BT employees have been offered long-term holidays if they agree to huge pay cuts.
One option available to staff is taking a year off with a 75 per cent drop in salary, in return for receiving the remainder of their wages as an up-front payment.

BT posted a £1.3billion loss for the first three months of the year.

This could of course be a cunning way of getting rid of staff without paying redundancy.

They may be hoping that many of the staff taking the 25% will get other jobs and 25% of annual salary in many cases would be much less than paying full redundancy entitlement.
