THE Ministry of Defence tried to cover up one of the country’s most famous sightings of an Unidentified Flying Object, a parliamentary watchdog said today.
According to UFO enthusiasts, eye witnesses including US Air Force officers at a military base close to Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, saw a brilliantly lit spaceship land in the forest on two consecutive nights in 1980.

The Parliament’s Ombudsman, Ann Abraham, ruled the MoD had "withheld three documents relating to reported sightings of unexplained aerial phenomena in 1980 - the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident". The triangular "strange glowing object" seen near RAF Woodbridge was said to have transmitted a blue pulsating light and sent nearby farm animals into a frenzy.

Sceptics say the witnesses were fooled by the beam from a lighthouse on the nearby coast.

Today's Vote

Do you believe aliens were sussing out Morningside in the skies on Saturday night?
Yes, we’re not alone in the universe. Let’s welcome them
Yes, but they’d better not park in a permit zone
No chance, if there was life out there, we’d know by now
