MOTORISTS are being reminded to take care over where they leave their cars, despite a strike by parking attendants set to go ahead tomorrow.
NSL, the company which provides Edinburgh's enforcers, said it would be "business as usual" even though around 80 per cent of attendants are expected to take part in the 24-hour walkout.

Spokesman Tim Cowen said: "The company has a contingency plan in place to ensure we have the correct level of service. We do not expect the public would see any difference in the service. The majority of Edinburgh drivers always take care to park their cars responsibly and we would urge all drivers to continue to do so.

"We are disappointed that some of our colleagues have decided to take industrial action."

Councillor Gordon Mackenzie, the city's transport convener added: "NSL have confirmed with us that restrictions will be enforced as normal and we would ask that drivers take the usual care when parking."

Around 80 per cent of the city's 120 enforcers will walk out on Wednesday and again on 2 July in an argument over pay.

You can bet that "service" will be about the same as normal. Can't risk loosing all that money, can they?

I'll tell you how I avoid getting a ticket. By not parking on yellow lines and buying a ticket when I need to and getting back before my time's up.

For once I agree with you.

Parking in Edinburgh City Centre isn't a great issue for me because I rarely park in Edinburgh City Centre in any case.

The objections I have mainly concern the way that the CPZ has grown out of all proportion to its needs, purely to make money out of motorists. I am also concerned about the fact that some of these parking attendants would stand there and watch you park illegally, then slap a ticket on you once you have walked round the corner. What's wrong with "You can't park there mate", in the way the Traffic Wardens used to say?

I can't think of a better way of raising taxation than fining selfish idiots like Mr Fuel Head and his horrible ilk. Fine polluters and law breakers, to help keep taxes down on less antisocial things like income tax. Simple common sense.

If you read my posts, you'll realise that I don't end up payig fines for parking. If, as the result of an oversight or misunderstanding (incorrect signage for instance) I get a penalty, I can generally get it cancelled on appeal.

Now doesn't that make you feel a whole lot better!

This is a public forum. I commented on...the article. You made a comment about how wound up about others you are. Do you see where I'm going?

If you don't like reading what others write in a public forum, why do you log on? Why not buy the paper and read it, then think to yourself about what you read?

Honestly, people like you should hanged to preserve the gene pool.
