ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson refused to put himself under pressure after Falkirk's terrific home win over Inverness cranked up the tension in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League relegation battle.
MacPherson's side could only take a point from their trip to Hamilton on Saturday and left New Douglas Park only three points above Falkirk, who hammered Caley 4-0 to go within a point of the Highlanders.
Only five points separate the bottom five clubs in the table and all the evidence points to the most intense finale to the race to avoid the drop in years.
However, MacPherson insists he is not surprised that the bottom group of clubs are all within touching distance of each other.
"Falkirk's result has tightened things up but it was always going to be like that," he said.
"Teams are so evenly matched and it's about taking your chances on the day.
"We just need to show a bit more composure to create some chances."
