STANDARD Life's chief executive Sandy Crombie is set to carry on leading the company past his 60th birthday, the insurer's chairman has indicated.
Gerry Grimstone said Mr Crombie had been "irked" by people "writing his obituary" in recent years. He said: "It is very good for Standard Life that we have a very experienced CEO. Sandy is producing a very fine set of results for the company."
Mr Grimstone was speaking following his first annual general meeting as chairman of the Edinburgh-based former mutual.
The event, at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, was a much tamer affair than in recent years.
Only 77 of the company's 1.5 million shareholders attended the gathering.
