THE ex-husband of Stagecoach millionaire Ann Gloag has been killed in a car smash.
Robin Gloag, 64, died after his car crashed into a field near his Perthshire home last night.

The vehicle ended up on its roof and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Gloag helped set up the bus company Stagecoach in the early 1980s before leaving the company and getting divorced from his wife. The firm went on to become one of Britain's biggest transport providers.

Mr Gloag, from Inchture in Perthshire, was found trapped under his car around 9pm in a field not far from his home.

Tayside Police said no other cars were involved in the incident, and are appealing for witnesses to what happened to come forward.

A member of Mr Gloag's family, speaking from his home, was too upset to comment today.

In a statement, Ann Gloag said: "I'm very sorry to hear of his sudden tragic death."

Mr Gloag's son Jonathan, from his marriage to Ann, committed suicide in 1999.

The body of the 28-year-old was discovered in Perthshire woodland in September that year.

Former bus driver Mr Gloag set up Highwayman coaches after separating from his wife.
