FURTHER evidence of a shift towards public transport in the wake of higher fuel costs and environmental concerns came today as Stagecoach announced a big jump in revenues.
The Scottish transport firm said like-for-like revenues for its UK bus division increased by 9.3 per cent in the 16 weeks to August 17, while UK rail revenues rose nine per cent. Bus passenger volumes have increased by 4.5 per cent on last year's figure.

Stagecoach described its financial position as "strong".
