INVERNESS chairman Alan Savage has resigned after less than two years at the helm of the SPL club.
Savage admitted he would no longer be able to give adequate commitment to the role which he accepted when David Sutherland stood down in 2006. He said: "I am sad to be stepping down as I have enjoyed being chairman.
However the enormous growth in my company, the Orion Group, means that I feel that I cannot devote the time and energy to lead the club for another season. My business is very much about the relationships with our clients and this requires me to travel extensively."
The club have not announced a replacement and may wait until the close season before an appointment is made. Graeme Bennett, the current vice-chairman and director of football, said: "Alan has been a hands-on leader and I have enjoyed working with him immensely.
"The board will take stock of the situation over the remaining weeks of the season."
