IN a bold move from the Bainfield selectors ahead of their Premier League bowls fixture at Auchinleck tomorrow, Jamie McIntosh, 16, will make his debut stepping into the shoes of his father, Graeme.
Bainfield have lost both their opening matches so given the strength of the opposition and challenge of the venue it is a bold move for the selectors to favour youth ahead of experience as they also give a debut to Neil Watson, 16.

McIntosh comes
in at second to Gavin Smith while Watson leads to Robert Marshall with Chris Steven moving down to third and Stevie McLeod stepping up to third.

Alan Trotter and Stuart Patterson miss the action due to holidays while Graeme Mcintosh and Derek Smith occupy the reserve bench. Alan Brown captains the team and plays third to Paul O'Donnell.

Section A rivals Midlothian are still smarting after their single shot home defeat from Auchinleck and the Dalkeith outfit aim to redeem themselves when they travel to Blantyre.

The return of ace skip Willie Rankin is a boost to the Midlothian morale and team manager Frank Gray also brings in Bob Campbell to the exclusion of Calum Crawford and Kevin McDougall. Ian Brown reverts to third for Rankin.

East Lothian host the match of the day in Section B of the Premier League with arch-rivals West Lothian the visitors to the Meadowmill stadium.

Portobello hope to continue their winning ways at Teviotdale in the Division 2B and make two changes with Jim Headspeath and Davy McLeod making way for BJ Smith and Bill Ramsay.

• WENDY PURDIE opens her defence of the women's national singles tomorrow with the two-in-a-row West Lothian champion tackling the challenger from Newton Stewart at Paisley in the 2.00pm session.

West Lothian are also represented by Lisa Barrett, 17, who starts against the high profile Lorraine Malloy of Balbardie at 10.00am.

Portobello champion Harriet Munro is unavailable so championship runner-up Helen Dougall steps into the limelight against the Cumbernauld representative on the first session at 10.00am.

East Lothian's Janet Fairnie's challenge starts at noon against twice national champion Julie Forrest of Teviotdale while Agnes Melrose, Midlothian, faces Lorna Hall of East Kilbride at 4.00pm.

Play continues at Paisley on Sunday.
