Published Date: 01 February 2008
NORWEGIAN club Viking Stavanger are pondering a move for Hearts striker Andrius Velicka after watching the Lithuanian in Wednesday night's CIS Cup semi-final.
Former Rangers forward Egil Ostenstad was in the directors' box at Hampden Park in his capacity at Viking's director of football.

He left impressed by Velicka's industry and will continue to monitor the player with Norway's transfer window not due to close until April 1.

Vladimir Romanov, Hearts' majority shareholder, values Velicka at around £2 million but Viking could test the Russian's resolve if they sell top goalscorer Peter Ijeh in the near future.

He has scored 29 goals in 38 games in the country's Tippeligaen and is likely to fetch around £1m in the transfer market, which could prompt an offer of around £1.5m for Velicka. Viking recently broke their club record transfer fee to sign Czech forward Martin Pillo from Viktoria Plzen at a cost of £900,000.

Officially on loan from FBK Kaunas, Lithuanian internationalist Velicka has scored 12 times for Hearts this season on the back of an 11-goal tally last year. His prowess has also attracted spies from Bolton Wanderers and Bristol City.

Meanwhile Hearts finally completed the signing of Argentinian midfielder Fernando Screpis from FBK Kaunas last night, just hours before the transfer window closed.

The 28-year-old has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract after months of speculation surrounding the player's move to Tynecastle.

Screpis, who is predominantly left-footed, had a trial spell with Hearts last summer and could now make his debut when the Jambos resume their SPL action against Gretna on February 9. He said: "I am very happy to be here. This is a very important step for my career and will do my best for the team. Hearts is a great club and I want to bring trophies to Tynecastle. I can't wait to get started and it's an exciting time for me."

With Screpis' arrival, Hearts now find themselves with a number of options in midfield, however, if Velicka departs, the Gorgie side will have to hope that they remain free of injury or suspension at the top end of the pitch.

And Hearts interim manager Stephen Frail insists he will not hesitate to turn to Ricardas Beniusis during the remainder of the season should Velicka leave.

The transfer window closed last night without a new striking recruit at Tynecastle, although Frail is suitably impressed by Beniusis' determination to hone his talents since arriving in Scotland on loan from Kaunas last July.

The player endured a torrid start to life in Edinburgh but has recovered to offer hints of his capabilities in recent substitute appearances. Frail stressed that Beniusis will continue to feature through to the end of the campaign.

"He can have a role to play. He came on and led the line well against Aberdeen last Saturday when Christian Nade and Andrius Velicka were off," said the former full-back. "Calum (Elliot] was suspended, Michal Pospisil's gone, so there's an opening for Ricardas."

One man who won't be moving to Tynecastle is former Hearts defender Alan Maybury, who last night signed for Aberdeen on loan from Leicester until the end of the season. Maybury had been training with the Jambos recently after failing to secure a place in the Foxes first team this season but the 29-year-old could make his Aberdeen debut in tomorrow's Scottish Cup fifth-round match against Hamilton.

All the signs are there to see... Frail is not trusted to make any new signings and Vlad is still calling the shots.

No new players in and precious few of the dross shipped out... Frail may well be picking the team but he is doing it with Romanov's bargain basement buys and Kaunus loanees.

I'm sure Hearts will receive an offer for Velicka in the coming weeks and i'm sure Vlad will sell him... although I wouldn't put it past him transfering Velicka to Hearts on a permanent contract so as to command a higher fee!

We did bring in a couple of youth players tho... no good if they never break through or are never fully tested in the first team... we must have the biggest youth squad in the country now!!!

Yes, unsurprising end to the month, no real news of any description. Only signed the Argentine because it looks like they had too. Defo appears Frail is towing the party line in the hope of keeping the job, which is a shame, as he is better than that.

This article is typical of the EN though, Ostenstad could have been there to watch anybody, and why would Velicka wish to go to Norway? God help us if he did, but anythings possible with HMFC.

The payers may not be allowed to drift till the end of the season, but you can be damn sure the fans will.....

Yes, the conman fantasy football manager has finally thrown away any pretence that he is interested in building a successful football team.

Frail on the Hearts web saying he's happy with the squad he has... utter rubbish, a couple of weeks ago he was saying certain players were not pulling their weight and new players had been pinpointed.

It's obvious he has no chance of the job long term (hence no squad additions or players leaving) and has been told to make do till the end of the season... if we finish in the top six that a bonus.

Happy 3rd Anniversary to the Romanov Revolution!

Screpis already had his name on a contract as far as I am to believe, so no new signings. Apart from the two under 19s. I say again what I said before they are cutting the wage bill to encourage investment in extended Tynecastle. I am sure Maybury was the best back at Tynecastle this week. Two bits of good news is Kurkis has had his loan extended and fortunately no bids for Elliot. What am saying just kidding about these two. Hearts squad is a bit like the old British Leyland, loads getting paid and about half doing the work.

I'm going to gloat a wee bit here, I did predict 3 weeks ago Screpis would be the only signing, I think to be honest that makes perfect sense.
We have said for sometime this squad needs streamlining, other than up front I think we are fairly well covered and the youth players are coming to a stage now where they need promotion to 2nd XI and possible subs bench position.
There is nothing lucrative left to play for as far as I can see, a UEFA spot is not totally out of the question, but improbable.
Frail is not going to be the manager next season, I would say let the new man pick his targets, how likely that is, I'm not sure, a more likely scenario would be for Vlad to do his Ted Rogers system (3-2-1) and the new man to choose from a pool Vlad and Pedro have prepared for him.
But time being signing anyone would be putting good money after bad.
I dont see Velicka leaving in a hurry however, unless they are desperate to sell, but if that were the case Tall and Goncalves would already be gone.
Tall still there at the end of the window is a positive for the games to come.

I said it at the time Romanov made his statement about new signings and new manager a few weeks ago, that he only said it because of talk of the boycott against Gretna.

He could not afford the bad publicity surrounding his credibility with the shareholders of UKIO, the only reason he made statements.

Staggering there are so many gullible supporters who fell for it and went quiet and now we are a lofty 9th in league, pressure is off him.

For 1st time in 20 years, considering no season ticket next year. Why should I support a man who currently IS the club? For those that say should support the club, Romanov with his actions has proved that is exclusively only what he wants it to be.

21

Tommy Jambo,

01/02/2008 12:22:14
You just have to look at how the reserve team are doing this year to see the state of our squad. These are all meant to be good quality players and yet they toil in the reserves aswell!! Cant get rid of them as nobody in the right mind would buy them!!

Thank god we're out the cups, I might enjoy my weekend for once!! No doubt scotland will lose at rugby tho!

Super G-Hearts,

Roll Up Roll up bring on the moans and groans!!

I for one see a positive for no signings coming in, every transfer window we have had, Romonov has brought in lots of players who dont seem to cut it, now we will not wear silverwear and will not get europe, so why would we sign anyone? the likelyhood is that a new manager will be appointed by at most the summer, so why waste money just now? Keep the players we have just now, forget this season and try to break in to top 6 and when the new boss comes in he can assess the squad properly and bring in players he wants.
Theres no pleasing some of you, It is quite obvious that Romonov has stood by his word and is not interfering, if i owned a football club I wouldnt give a caretaker manager money to spend...what if the manager didnt like the player that Frail singed? total waste of money.

Well done to the Hearts for keeping stability at this time and hopefully the new manager will do well in the new season

Disappointing not to see any new recruits. That said perhaps it's a good thing given any new Manager would have inherited players that he didn't necessarilly want or need.

Wednesday night summed things up for me. A poor display in their only meaningful game that remained this season. Abject display.

Looking at that team on Wednesday I come to the following conclusion based on this season thus far;

Banks - Stop gap. Best of the keepers we have though

Neilson - Poor season. Needs replaced if progression to be made.

Karipidis - Improved. Looks comfortable

Berra - Developing a fine defender. Still learning.

Goncalves - Absolute gash. Undoubted weak link in the side. Opposition are playing to his weakness week in week out. Sadly not seen by SF.

Jonsson - Potential. Still developing. Never a wide player though.

Stewart - Hugely encouraging in first month or so. Declined alarming of late. Anonymous on big stage on wed not for first time.

Palezuelos - Good touches. Neat and tidy. Needs support.

Miko - IMO looked a threat on Wed. Subject of yet more xenophobic SFA treatment.

Nade - Looks both sublime and horrendous in equal measure. Definately capable of delivering more.

Velicka - Only hope of a goal. Departure would be a blow.

Driver was poor although I supect unfit. I would like to think there could yet be opportunities for both Makela and possibly Beslija should he return from loan in months ahead.

But by far the most frustrating episode this season his been the form displayed by Roman Bednar. Whilst we are struggling RB has been prolific for WBA. Appears unlikely that he will return to HMFC. Although THMFC should command a large fee accordingly, something Vlad has been able to extract.

I note Rudi Skacel away to Hertha Berlin on loan.

God how things have declined in the past 18 months......

transfer window come and gone. only one player to show for it, a guy who we had already signed.

so much for recruiting a bunch of players with british football experience. so basically total cobblers then.

frail on the hearts site 'happy with squad'.

aye good one.

makela stays to "fight for his place".

aye another good one. hey juho, you wont win it. all you've done is keep yourself out of football until the summer and fail to free up a place for a player who we could have signed.

nowt against the boy but there are too many freeloaders clogging up the squad.

all you can say in defence of them not signing players is that maybe they have already written off this season.

THAT MEANS WE HAVE TO SORT OUT THE SQUAD IN THE SUMMER. ONE LAST CHANCE.

Just hope addition of Screpis to midfield isn't preparation for Kingston being sold after his participation in African Nations shop window...not a straight swap but we have got good cover in there.

All a bit doom and gloom at moment, agree that season is over, no chance of UEFA cup spot especially given that we struggle to score more than a goal a game

#32 So you're happy to see us stagnate for the last 4 months of the season? You're happy to see absolutely no effort to arrest the decline we have witnessed over the last 2 years?
Quick solution to the caretaker manager problem:- either appoint Frail permanently or hire a new manager. Vlad's had weeks to do so but I don;t believe he has actually bothered approaching anyone.

I have said this before
We dont need new signings all we need is a steady team and no interference
Whats the point letting Frail bring in new faces and then changing manager in the summer
We have a good squad if we can keep Velicka until the summer we will be fine
We need rid of players i am just glad we never signed a load of Sh1t like in the Rix days
41

GrahamL,

01/02/2008 12:36:56
If Velicka goes then that will tell you everything you need to know about this regime. I suspect this is just the EEN trying to stir up a story, but we cannot sell our only real striker once the transfer window is closed. Simple as.

I don't see the positive from the lack of action in this window, maybe we shouldn't buy players until we get a new manager in. But WE SHOULD HAVE GOT A NEW MANAGER IN. A month of looking, and no-one? What are we waiting for? Jose to call back? There must be someone who could do the job out there, maybe not 100% perfect, but significantly better than what we have right now. Again, nothing.

I said last week that a protest should be on if there's no new signings and no new managers by today. Pissing in the wind again I suppose?
42

Chas Niceass,

01/02/2008 12:37:54
#33, 34 I think this guy sees some sense and isn't panicing or trying to encourage panic.
Anyway whats the point in panicing anyway? I predict a huge downturn in season books, if that doesnt prompt a response, its unlikely anything will, the balls in his court this time to produce, up until now he's had the seeming support of a full house for 3 years, not likely anymore.

Kingston has been a miss. But the bottom line is that we don't play as a unit. Midfield only seem to be able to influence we they have numerical advantage in that area.

Stewart has been a huge let down yet again. capable but perhaps not as good as we thought or he thinks he is??

Woeful up front. Look guys, if we think Beniusis is the saviour then we need to realise how things have declined.

This bunch have grossly under achieved this year. Absolutely disgraceful in some games. Frail is not the route cause butnot the answer and has not helped. I hate to commit this to print, but I get slightly emabarrassed when I see him on the pitch celebrating victories as if the they had won the cup.

They are a bunch of losers. They showed that at Fir Park and Hampden. Season over by 30/01.

The model is not working Vlad!!! Please take note and address or step aside. It has become that critical I'm afraid.

the days of spending big on wages at hearts have well and truly gone, with a capital G. All of a sudden its the hibees who are spending money(albeit it not on wages) and not hearts. You would've thought at least say, £1m of the craig gordon money would've been spent in the transfer window. Yet again the fans are cheated by the signing of another FBK Kaunas loan player.

#45 I dont think our opinions are too far apart. Fir Park I thought we battled all the way without the quality, especially 2nd half, the pitch didnt allow for a decent game, but Weds it seemed a return to old ways, but the games in the SPL were both won with lots of effort, other than that I agree with most of what you say.
They realise the model is broken but I'd rather now we got it right rather than take the Newcastle approach.
An end to the season similar to Robbos year I think, hopefully it can be followed by a pick up, but I find it hard to believe.
Still its my team and I'll support any which way I find best given the circumstance.

To be honest guys, the lack of any real movement in the transfer window; either in or out, only goes to show that Hearts are nowhere nearer to sorting out the problems of an underperforming squad.

This team will be allowed to limp towards the finishing line like a wounded beast; gently coaxed by Stevie (the football whisperer) Frail, where it will be promptly taken out the back and ripped to pieces in the closed season.

It's all just a tad depressing really.

Gordon - sold for 9 million (we got 9million BECAUSE romonov was here, if it was pie man we would have lost him for 1 million to the old firm)
Neilson - still here unfortunetly
Pressley - great captain but spoke out
Webster - Self confessed hun who would not sign new contract, most fans will agree Romonov did the right thing with this one
Fyssas - only came becoz of romonov, great player but we had 3 left backs last season, at the time Jose and Lee showed alot of promise, it was time for the legend to go
Kingston - still here
Hartley - handed a transfer request 3 times to engineer a move to Celtic
Brellier - Il give you this one, picked up too many bookings though!!
Skacel - Didnt want to be at hearts after Burley left, when he arrived he said he seen it as a stepping stone to england, he got what he wanted and lets not forget that he was onkly on loan, romonov had an agreement with skacel that they would let the permanent contract go thru then sell for a profit GOOD BUSINESS
Bednar - given so many chances, got fat and lazy and left the end
Velicka -still here

#57 Aye thats another story. Sick of that one and speaking about it.
Biggest problem I have with Vlad is Miko, and on Weds and Saturday like another poster, i thought he was one of our better players and didnt want him taken off, major turnaround for me.
But he still has to go, Smith said he wanted cheats out of the game, FIFA wouldnt let him do what he wanted, Miko and Hearts are being made an example of, perhaps if we lose Miko then we might return to some sort of normality, but as much as I dont trust Vlad I dont trust the SFA either.
Bad place we're in right now, but when the going gets tough....

I agree that we probably were "spoiled" by the Burley team, espacially when squad was threadbare on his arrival. However I am most alarmed by the rate of decline that has ensued in the intervening period. For all that we possibly acheived more in the first 18 months of VR's tenure the past 2 years have been dire. Champions League was a joke as was UEFA cup.

I am inclined to sit and wait on the anticipated managerial appointment and see what happens. I have to say that I am not overly optimistic about the prospects of a British manager.

Vlad really has to act between now and the start of the 08/09 season. If things haven't improved in terms of managerial structure, player recruitment and departures I suspect many fans will have had enough.

#27 - finally a reasonable and sensible look at the situation. Instead of all the over reactionary rubbish that folk like to spout on forums.

Out of both cups, we might make top six in the league, big deal. If Vlad doesn't have the manager he wants why waste money in signing players that might be completely out of the picture the next season.

However if we had made loads of signings all the serial complainers would be moaning, too many players, not enough good players, too many Liths yada yada yada.

#48 - I actually do believe Vlad's in control and trys to get it right, albeit in a manner we are not accustomed to seeing in the running of a football club.

Jeeeesus how many times over the last 134 years have we got it right as a club and won trophies up against the odds especially now up against the far superior resources of the Old Firm? Not very many.

Vlad's strike rate has been better than a vast proportion of the club's previous administators. I'm actually more sick off all the moaning and complaints about Vlad, than his actual way of running our great club.

I'll take charge of Hearts. Honest.

And even though I'd go out of my way to systematically ruin everything there is to ruin within my power, I bet I couldn't do a worse job than ol' Uncle Vlad.

The man is taking you all for a ride. And why shouldn't he ? He's realised now that by simply scribbling down a memo for some lackey to project onto your website, he can keep you sweet for another few months.

He's got you by the short and curlies and as far as he can see, lip service is all it takes to keep you coming back for more.

Give yourselves a shake and challenge him. Otherwise you'll be on this forum in 3 years time saying the exact same things as you are today.

As mentioned several times before, I'd support a protest against him. I tearily recall a fair few Jambos standing up for us back in 1991 in the East Terracing during our campaign to save our club.

HMFC doesn't stand for anything at present, everything Hearts were just over 3 years ago doesn't exist now and it's thanks to one man's befuddling approach to ownership.

#60 Exactly what i was going to say - people are very quick to remember anything bad about Vlad and forget all the good he's done. Remember how Levein had to sell/let go all of our good players at the end of each season because we couldn't afford to pay them? Then remember how we've had the likes of Fyssas, Kingston, Skacel, Jankauskas (i know he was a one season wonder) at the club. Without Vlad none of them would have played for us ... we'd be at Murrayfield, we wouldn't have won the cup ... we wouldn't have finished 2nd ... we wouldn't have had a chance at the CL. Admittedly, if he hadn't interfered as much then we could still be up there but we all make mistakes which i believe he is not trying to rectify. We got a shi*ty draw in the CL and then the UEFA qualifiers as well plus some ridiculous refereeing decisions when Brellier and Aguiar were sent off so you can't blame him for us being knocked out of those competitions.
We have no god given right to beat Motherwell who happen to be a good team this year so why the uproar when we lost in the SC at Fir park? We should have won it here not there. I thought we had the better chances against Rangers but didn't take them - not to mention a terrible ref - so why the uproar about Wednesday? It was the teams fault we lost not Vlads.
End of the season he'll get a manager in who will have the summer to recruit and get rid of some rubbish and he'll have a full pre-season to bed the new players in. I'll take 1 bad season if it means we finish 2nd and win the odd cup every 3 years. Jees - have i been writing that long?! I'm off!

No one will deny the good things Romanov has done for our club. It is the negativity we have had to endure with his meddling in team selection and allowing those Russian coaches to go ahead with their training ideas, Maloveev was the worst. I do believe we have a squad capable of a top 3 finish, obviously not this season, but to reach top two we need to strengthen. The policy could be wait for 6 months and new manager as no point in buying now with nothing to play for. I think it is clear out time to keep the debt down.

im not too bothered about the signings or lack of. we needed to sign maybury though and cant quite believe we didnt. hearts fans need to lay off miko. i havent been his biggest fan but our best player in the last two games. fair play to him. he has stepped up and needs to continue to play like that.

our weak link is our full backs. goncalves..the worst full back ever!!!
every game he is playing centre half instead of marking the winger...its amazing that frail 9a great full back) cant see this....and as for robbie...the least said about him the better. always given 100% but he cant KICK a ball!!

last time makela played he scored against barcelona...time before that he scored a hat-trick....yet elliot and benny are in front of him...WHY?????

jonsson is ok but he is young and not the player he is being made out to be....hes not that good yet but think we have some young players who should be getting a shout.

gutted no one bought elliot....would have been a great swap for a set of bibs.

#76 - "It's the team's fault we lost, not Vlad's"

Remind me who brought in the (for the most part) dross that has come to Tynecastle over the past two years? Admittedly he's found the odd gem like Kingston and the odd youth player, but the sheer volume of substandard players brought in stops the youngsters getting a decent run to prove themselves, leaving the garbage in the first team to drag team morale and results down further. Not only did Vlad bring them in, but he (allegedly) picked them for the best part of two years. How is it possible that it's NOT his fault?

Of the current squad, how many are truly good enough for even a mediocre league like the SPL? And I mean consistently good, not just in flashes? Kingston definitely, Chesney most of the time, Berra's improving, Tall (when he's not got Vladfluenza). Velicka has improved immeasurably but apparently he's off. That's about it as far as I'm concerned, out of those that have been playing regularly.

Not his fault my over-padded ar$e.

Not that I'm bitter or anything you understand.....

#78 Exactly. I don't see why we have to temper our complaints about Romanov destroying the playing side of things with "ah, but he organised breakfasts for school kids". Yes he has done some very good things for the club OFF the park, and if he just left the on pitch side alone we'd be doing very very well right now. And there's the problem. He's good at some things, very bad at others. All we're asking is for him to have the wisdom to identify which is which and keep away from the things he can't do!

Not sure why Hearts fans want to comment on a Kaunas player on loan to them. If Vlad was to make Velicka a Hearts player (on a good long contract) then Hearts would get the money.

As it stands it would be up to Kaunas to set the value and decide whether to sell him - under normal circumstances.

Surprised at the low fee being talked about though. Surely a striker is worth more than the £1.5m paid for a Hibs fullback...mind you another fullback went for £9m so maybe not in the wacky EPL

brilliant when you get hibs fans declaring our club is being run "perfectly"

sums it up in that you spend so much time concentrating about whats going on with us you fail to see whats actually going on at your own club.
i dont like going on about big team wee team etc but the sheer numbers of hibs posters on a hearts thread suggest that you do have a small team mentality.

selling all your best players to replace them with dross and justify it by saying "we made a profit" is no fun in my book.

your getting shafted and lining petries and farmers pockets just as much as hearts fans are doing with romanov.

Signing Screpis is so hit and miss - I mean, will he ever actually get a game? or will he join Pinilla in the lounge bar?

No Scottish cup 4th round this season and that must be our worst display in many many seasons! The CIS semi seemed like we didn't even turn up for that one - so maybe this weekend could be the Jambos end of season party

What makes everyone so convinced that come the end of the season, Vlad will appoint a Bitish, respectable, experienced (etc etc) manager?

The guy is a serial non-deliverer of promoses.

The outcome suggests otherwise.

# 97 that would sound better if you had any cups to your name, not the diddy cup at that!!

However, Hibs are in a far better situation than Hearts at the moment regardless of what anyone will say. I think Petrie has been spot on by curbing wages bills etc and clearing debt. We have a debt near on or exceeding 50m which I cant see a way out of. Yes Romanov owns that debt but it still has to be paid. We pay ridiculous wages that almost match the old firm and look at the state of us!!

The spending has to stop, we cant expect Romanov to contiue spending stupid wages on anyone at the moment until the debt goes down! 9m for Gordon and the debt still seems to rise!!

There will be other clubs interested in Velicka, this is just a space filler in the EEN today.
Those of us who are pragmatic, understand the thinking behind the lack of signings. We expect a new manager and when we get one, which has to be before preperations for the new season begin. When he is appointed, it's crucial that there are considerable numbers of players leaving and a good few coming in.
Right now, we are where we are, and Frail can continue to throw around soundbites, and brown nose Vlad until the cows come home, because, nothing drastic will happen in the short term.

#82 I agree to an extent. He did bring in a lot of the dross but now that shaggy is in charge of the team and they have been playing consistently together and shown what they are capable of i don't think you can blame Vlad directly for the Rangers result in particular. I think that team was capable of winning the game but too many players had an off night on Wednesday. Let's face it, Banks, Berra, Karapidis, Stewart, Velicka, Nade and to some extent Miko and Neilson are no worse than the players we had last season when we nearly finished 3rd. Craig Gordon, Fyssas, Hartley and Brellier would have been great but you couldn't turn down £9M for Gordon, Pressley is now past it, Fyssas had his time and Hartley didn't want to be here (not just because of Vlad) so Brellier is an exception.
Honestly, out of the current squad, Banks, Berra, Karapidis/Tall, Neilson, Kingston, Chesney, Velicka and Nade are all good enough on a consistent basis for most SPL teams outside the old firm and therefore form the basis of a team that should be way higher than they are. Had we stuck with that team plus Lee Wallace, possibly Bruno and (dare i say it) Miko from the start of the season i belive we'd be much higher up the table. You will obviously and quite rightly point out that it was Vlad who didn't allow this to happen so I would go as far as saying it is his fault we are not higher up the league but I wouldn't fault him for Wednesday. Add Driver and Jonsson to that list as 2 young players that will become more consistent and i believe we've got a decent side. Obviously open for debate though .....

It is run perfectly. Yes. How can it not be ?

I would love my club to shell out millions of pounds on players but at what cost long-term ? Where would that leave us ?

The way the transfer market is working just now, especially with the possible recriminations of the Webster deal, Hibs along with every other club have to be wary.

We've sold a lot of good players for an unprecedented money, a feat that will surely not be repeated. What's the point of spending all that income on footballers who might not be around for long, who might depreciate in value and be sold at a loss.

Put it this way, if Hibs had £5million pound and they gave me the choice of 5 £1million pound players or one training academy they would own, I would take the training academy each and every single time.

Players come and go, that's the way it is.

My club runs with a 42% staff costs against turnover. That, my friend, is nigh on perfect. And hey, we're just as successful as any other club outwith the OF in the last 5 years.

And moreso, with the financial side of things being run correctly, the foundations are in place for this club to be succesful long-term and not have to flog the family silver because the wolves are darkening our door.

Can you not spot that ? Can you not see beyond an exotically named star striker wearing the jersey ?

This is a club that wants it's stadium finished, that wanted it's training academy, that wants its debt paid off. And jeez, they're close to achieving all three. And in that time, they've won a cup.....that's more than they won in the previous 10 years when we shelled out on wages and spent relatively good money on players.

So to answer you, I LOVE the way my club is run.

The last few weeks saw a string of Hibbies claiming Hearts were going into relegation. Like everything else from ER it fell into the category of drivel. There is a natural order of things- Hibs fans boast and brag all season, yet end the season looking up the SPl at Hearts. #112 It's lucky you're a scottish club. In many leagues around the world, you wouldn't get away with treading water and occassionally winning a cup, if that's enough for you then I guess the club is being run to your satisfaction. If you're happy not spending money on players in case they depreciate in value, then fine. If owning a training facility is the be all and end all, then fine. If being "as good as any club outside the OF" is the extent of your ambitions, then fine. If a player having a name you can pronounce is enough to make him a worthwhile signing, then fine.
But isn't there a part of you, deep down, that looks at Celtic and Rangers having their big European matches - or Liverpool winning the Champions League - or even the OF winning the league and thinks "yeah, I'd like me some of that"? The club is not run pertectly, wage bill being 42% is not perfect, the club or business as you put it should always being looking to put a team on the field to perform, that in recent weeks has not been the case, if Cadburys ran out of chocolate profits would dip, if hibs out a poor team on the park crowds dip (ie profit)

come off the glue

Bit dissapointed Maybury or any right back wasn't signed as it's glaringly obvious we are short in this position.
To have him training with us aswell, just crazy we let him sign for the sheep. Neilson is decent but has no cover and i would prefer someone else to Neilson anyway. Sure Romanov has written off this disgrace of a season and didn't want to pay additional wages for no end result at the end of it. Who knows but the youth have to get into the first team, forget Beniusis and the sub standard fringe payers give the boys in the under 19's a go build them up for the next few seasons.

You're not grasping my point.

Hibs are the way they are at the moment. It won't be like this forever.

They're getting on a sound financial footing and developing the long-term aspects i.e East Stand and training ground, purchasing them outright.

There will come a time, in a couple of years max I would hope when our budget will be much bigger. That is my point, we're looking at long-term gain here, not throwing millions at a couple of prima donnas to maybe help us finish 2nd and win a cup.

History has shown that that business model doesn't work....Hearts, Leeds, Blackburn etc. The income has to at least match the outgoing, or have a break-even line within the near future.

Chelsea are an exception, I grant you that. But not every club is bankrolled by an Abramovich.

Hearts, aye, well done, you finished 2nd and won a cup. Look what followed though, 2 seasons of transition and cost-cutting, where your best players are sold or moved on and replaced by dross. Yes, you enjoyed 05/06 but you've not enjoyed the past two seasons.

I wouldn't want Hibs to win a cup and then have nothing to excite me for the next x amount of years. This is Hibs building long-term now, hoping that with the financial side of things in place, we can sustain a challenge for silverware for many years in succession.

THAT. IS. MY. POINT.

Larry will be back soon and that is like having a new player but if Velicka is sold that will say quite a lot about the future(or lack of it).
I wonder if Romanov is starting to get cold feet about the amount of investment required for the new stand. I hope not because if matters on the pitch are sorted out we can fill 23,000 seats every week. I also wonder whether he is setting Frail up to fail and we end up with another eastern european next year. Valdas back? nothing would surprise me.

#112 Can't let this one pass without comment:

"And hey, we're just as successful as any other club outwith the OF in the last 5 years."

And they say Hearts fans are deluded. Let's see, taking that last 5 complete seasons, Hearts have two 3rds, one 2nd and one Scottish Cup. Hibs have one 3rd and one LC and managed to finish in the bottom 6 twice. If Cup wins are all that counts as success then fine, but no-one says Livingston are a successful club.

126 - Riley, I have never argued about the paucity of the current squad, and don't remember giving you any abuse for stating what is, in my opinion anyway, a fact.

You seem to have calmed down over the last few days, but there were a few days there where you appeared to be coming off the rails, were becoming very obnoxious and quite insulting to several people, and I freely admit to giving you a good ribbing about that.

If you watch my posts as often as you do Victor's you'll probably see I've not been a fan of this season at all.

honestly too tough to say,

I would happily swap alot of things for the scottish cup, but £50m debt and pushing the club to bursting point may be a bridge too far.

If it was hibs i would be worried it would be the last cup we'd see, and i'm not saying hearts are going into administration but you have to admit it is a very worrying situation.

£50m debt or the scottish cup, i have to think about that one a while longer, as i have often said i would give anything for the scottish cup
156

Rolland,

01/02/2008 15:40:11
Huggs, the point is no team outside the Old Firm have lifted more than 1 trophy in the last 5 years. Now if we said 10 then that would include our two cup wins, its then 36 year prior to that before you find our last success so your just making a knob of yourself.

Would you say 1 cup win ever five years is acceptable ? when we have a chance of winning 15 times in that period ?
157

Roscoe P Coltrane,

01/02/2008 15:41:32
Eh, Dubber, the debt ain't £50m yet. The figure is a scary one but not accurate yet - we'll see what the annual report says but I'd "hazard" (cough) a guess at about £25-30m. Still a hell of a lot but not the £40-50m people keep bandying about...

#153 I'm very happy with their achievements - most football fans never get to see their team don't anything of note. I couldn't care less about debt until it becomes unsustainable which right now it's not because of the unique financing arrangement we have. Under Robinson it became unsustainable - he ran up far more debt than Romanov with arguable less return. And guess what - Hearts fans got rid of him. The same will happen with Romanov if it comes to light - ie real proof, not Hibee maths - that the debt is unsustainable in the long-term.

The team that has consistently finished above everyone else outside the OF deserves some recognition. We have a league dominated by two teams, so much so that one paper started running a league table that didn't include the OF. Guess who "won" that league more than anyone? On top of that, storming to the top of the league in 2005/06, nearly winning the league in 85/86, another Cup win, long-term domination of our local rivals, some great players coming through - golden times that make the current situation hard to stomach.

#166 Keep dreaming pal. How will you be able to offer higher wages without getting into debt, which is what you've been trying to avoid. And if you carry on the way you're going, you'll start losing money as attendances drop. Classic Hibee logic - doing anything on a consistent basis in modern football involves spending money to compete. Hearts proved that when a little investment in wages brought instant return (until Romanov decided to get hands-on) and Hibs have proved that not spending money when you have a great manager (Mowbray) and great young players means you won't progree.

So Livingston, who have since been relegated, are a succesful club are they? You are taking that approach because it suits your argument. Winning 5 games to get to and to win a cup makes you successful but winning the majority of your games over a 5 year period and consistently finishing high up in a league that is nearly impossible to win is not counted as succesful?! Ask any manager of an SPL team outside the old firm what a succesful season would entail and I guarantee that the majority would say a good cup run and 3rd in the league.

Again, outside of the OF i'd suggest that Hearts players have received the most caps of any other SPL side in recent times. Admittedly there aren't many/any just now but maybe now is our barren spell - Hibs have certainly had a barren spell/decade!
176

what a chancer,

abdn 01/02/2008 16:09:23
a budget of 5 million on wages would be enough ,but we have to double this to bring the players here as they dont want tobe here in the first place so a signing on fee is supplied to bring greed to rise in the negotations then they amble around for a few year till they get another contract, watch them enhance themselves on loan or try a bit harder when the last three months.
177

bonspeil,

01/02/2008 16:09:48
#171 No. No more so than Hibs bringing in lots of African and French players. Hearts have contributed large numbers of players to the Scotland set-up in recent years. The damage was done over the last 20 years when the Old Firm stopped bringing through young players (until recently) and preferred to spend 12m on people like Tore Andre Flo.

We can offer higher wages because we aren't paying interest charges we have been for the last number of years. We were £17m in debt about 4 years ago - thats around £113k a month interest alone. Once the remaining stand is built we will be able to concentrate on the playing staff.
We will not be able to offer £15k a week but will be able to improve on the wage cap we have at the moment and hopefully continue to improve on it and consolidate on being the 3rd biggest team in Scotland. We won't POTENTIALLY' be the 3rd biggEst - WE WILL BE THE 3RD BIGGEST.

Hearts problems this year are NOT doen to bad refs etc etc, but to the poor standard of player on their books at the moment. I get jumped on regularly for maintaining that the SIZE of the squad in NO WAY equates with QUALITY.
Spend the rest of the season deciding what(few) to keep, weed out the rest, and spend the HUGE salary savings on attracting (fewer)players of proven quality into the club. I'd suspect that, coupled with the odd good youngster coming through (why can other teams do it and Hearts struggle with this?) and better times COULD be back reasonably soon.......but the radical surgery needs to start right away !!

Perdantic, I see you are on here talking nonsense as well.

Some of us hibees think HFC are being mismanaged, but it is a complertely different issue, we are arguing about the direction of the club but you guys are in the sh1t big time. It was OK 2 years ago and you got a cup out of it, and would we have swapped you then ???? maybe, ... but now I really fear for your future unless he is prepared to continually pump money in, and recent signs are that he has lost interest, then the wolves will be a the door. Oh its great fun taking the p1ss but wake up guys this uis serious.

As an honest outside opinion, I think you have to bin frail right now, he just does not have it. He doesnt come over as if he has much of an idea of what he is about.

Throughout these posts I have constantly argued three things
1) The present squad is frankly not good enough for Hearts and most would struggle to hold a place at MOST other SPL sides...they are too numerous, and often grossly overpaid if we believe what we read on that front.
2) The Jambo pre-occupation with biased refs/SFA/SPL/ etc etc is complete tosh...and unless/until someone comes up with concrete proof (I know that wouldn't be easy) the rest of the SPL's fans are gonna continue to laugh loudly at you guys.
3) Vlad's stewardship of the club is nightmarish, but the Jambo fans just seem SO SO placid about letting Cha Cha Charlie continue to do as he likes. He may OWN the shares of the club, but he is NOT the club..YOU GUYS ARE, but all to many spend their time (often at home listening to the radio) pontificating about what needs doing (usually about moving player A to position B and such trivia) then attacking any other Jambo (and non-jambos like me) who have been to most recent games....while I'm supposed to let them "bully" other contributors (some have done it for MANY months if you go through past comments)and myself for OUR views...SO....while i DO know that they are a small idiotic fringe in the Jambo support, I'll neither be silenced by them, nor will I be driven away (until I'm good and ready)by such tactics. Frankly, it's a bit like shooting fish in a barrel with some of the dross and contradiction they come out with. This small crew inc. AllLAUGHSON,VLADMAGIC,JAMTART1874,JAMBO-REE,THEMOTH,VICTORIAN,GORGIESFINEST...who may well be pretty much the same one or two idiots with multi-pseudos.....and who may often writing in on pseudo number two, to support their earlier contentions as pseudo number one....I mean, how sad can it get??).You can decide whether you want to associate your opinions with that lot or not, that choice is yours.
Despite them, I know that there are many Jambos out there just p1ssed off with them, but hey

As far as i can see it
If Burley had been left alone Hearts might just have won the SPL.
If Mowbray had been backed Hibs might just have won the Scottish Cup last year.
Neither Board had the balls and both have been in freefall since.
2 wins against Hibs and Aberdeen don't really show significant change, and promises about new manager, future developments and players are just that.
Accross the city there are changes but the continual drip drip of saleable assets doesn't suggest any consistency.
So no doubt our arguments will continue to be about mediocrity.
We both need something to cheer us up, other than defeats!!!

PEDANTIC HOBO, if i talked as much nonsense as that on a hibs thread there would be armageddon. personally i think you are at the wind-up most of the time so you must be colin nishing yourself at all the biting that's been going on.

that one about hibs being as successful as any other non OF club in the last 5 years made me laugh. you must be the office joker with a sense of humour like that.

RILEY HAMISH, i used to think you were just a berserk, gobby ignoramus hobo masquerading as a motherwell supporter, and a bit delusional.

now i'm thinking you're a complete walter mitty, living in a fantasy land.

now you're on about "bullying". whit? there has been no bullying. you choose to post vats of drivel, grain silos full of drivel therefore you leave yourself open to ridicule. you are the storage facility for the EEC drivel mountain.

there's a thought, i wonder if drivel has any nutritional value. if so you could ship it all off to needy countries to make famine a thing of the past.

Biley i see you cant resist bringing my name up just what is your fixation with HMFC, these threads and the people you mention in posts. Is it because we have our own opinions and you dont like them? As far as your obsession with HMFC goes I really am beginning to believe as someone said you must have been bullied by a Jambo. I can see the point in Hibs fans wanting to be on here winding up Us Jambos after all were derby rivals from the same city, you on the other hand claim to be a Motherwell fan, you have no affiliation with HMFC whatsoever yet you seem to spend all day everyday speaking about them.

I deliberately havent replied to any of your posts since last night until now that is, as i told you yesterday your an erse and not worth it, and 99.9% of people on these forums see you for that, however if you really want to bring my name into your petty childish arguments i can see i will just have to show you up again for the lying snivelling little fool you really are.

You claim to own your own company here and in France, you claim to own property in France, you claim to mingle with the likes of Sir David Murray, yet you spend all day everyday speaking absolute horsesh1it on a football forum. Anyone with half of what you claim to have would be no-where near here at least not in the way you are. You have even made the ridiculous claim that you had one of your employees searching through previous posts made by victor here on the EN just so you could try and prove him wrong, have you any idea how stupid and ridiculous that sounds and how foolish you make yourself.

You try to make yourself look intelligent by posting phrases in French and as i proved you dont know the language well enough, with your half written phrases that translate to jibberish, thus making yourself even more foolish.

I suggest, and i mean this seriously you get yourself some professional help, your obsession is unhealthy, and your multiple personality disorder along with your fan

If there is not an element of a wind up in this line of thinking then we really are facing very dark times at our club. If this were ever to happen the performances on the park (from our players or the officials) would be the very last thing that we, or the club, would have to worry about.

I have to say i agree with some of the things in that. Not the violence bit at Hearts matches, but the parts about if this was Italy/Greece or south America what would have happened by now. Some form of action/protest has to be made eventually. It's all very well hobos laughing or trying to wind Jambos up about this or fans of other clubs but none of you can honestly say hand on heart you do not think for 1 second there is a bias towards the OF in Scotland. the difference between HMFC and the rest is we have an owner that had the balls to stand up to them and say what every other owner/manager in this country feels and has wanted to say for sometime. Now were paying the price for that. Hibs will to if they ever look like challenging the OF that i can guarantee and then you'll be screaming chaet/OF bias etc etc, and looking for support from outwith.

Your owner really really really showed them varmints at the SFA didn't he.

Where did it get you?

He's not even got the balls to show up at your matches anymore.

It's the violence bit that goes somewhat against the grain but I'm sure the SFA will accept that this website is not the OFFICIAL Hearts site.

Referees read websites to keep up to speed with the fans.

It would appear you missed the entire point i was making in my last post.

It doesnt matter what he showed them or didnt show them or what he did or didnt achieve. the point i was making was he had the balls in the first plave to speak out against the OF and SFA, and your comment says it all "Where did it get you" nowhere except for being even more unfairly treated.

Ah well here we are on the 1st of February, and our transfer window has just slammed shut.

...without anything much happening down Tynie way - no (totally) new players and no promised new manager either.

But ach well, never mind about trivial things like that and league positions. We don't really need any of that stuff really as after we do have a lovely new stand.

...erm well, almost, sort of nearly, a lovely new stand. WELL we most certainly DO have a lovely new PLANNING APPLICATION.

It's great - photos and computer graphics and everything, I mean I think there's even a model as well.

Brilliant!!!!

OK, so we've been knocked out of two cup competions within a week, but ach well that isn't really that important surely. After all we did win the big cup last yearish.

And who'd really want to win that other cup. I mean I can't even remember it's name. Why on earth would any Jambo want to win that after winning TWO, yes TWO, BIG trophies in the last 45 years.

Ooops silly me 3 trophies - I forgot about the Tennants sixes, shouldn't even mention that OTHER cup in the same breath.

Yes lots to be pleased about down Tynie way at the moment.

All truly fine & dandy.

Ooops is that the time? I really got to dash off as I think the Galician National Flying Pigs display squad is due to do a low fly-past over the Cathedral in 20 minutes.

...OK yes doctor I'm almost finshed.

So no new players still to come in from Russia yet ?
Their deadline is until end of February so they can still buy AND SELL.

The article mentions our two strikers on Wednesday night with a possible sale.......Well no harm there then , as that was Velicka at his worst.(He is far far better than that)
As far as Nade goes - He MUST be the thickest football player I have ever seen. I have never seen a player get caught offside so often. HE CANNOT READ THE LINE.
Learn by his mistakes - You must be joking .....and I was saying the same thing at the Dunfermline Micky Mouse Cup tie a few months ago.....and have been saying the same ever since.

I haven't been to many away games this year due to frustration and disappointment. However given Hearts very poor home record and overall school boy performances, we are just 6 points off Aberdeen, who by their standards appear to be having a good season. What does that tell you?!?! We will be up their at the end of the season....definately above Hibs...as per usual.

My prediction is that Beniusus will com good once fully fit and confidence is regained. I was there on the first day of the season when he was playing blind folded and one leg taped to the other....but I feel he will come good.

As for you not replying (what blessed relief to us all) that's YOUR decision and of no interest to me.
It seems to excite your jealousy buds that I (having been asked by others what I do for a living) reveal that I have a business, and a house in France (several MILLION brits own property abroad sir)...and yet again, let me repeat (4th time now)...I HAVE NEVER...EVER...MET DAVID MURRAY....OK???
As for Horsesh1t opinion, well that's for us each to decide re the other, but I'm willing to bet that if you look at post#220 on this thread...masses and masses of honest and realistic Jambos will agree with ALL/MOST of what I've written....so I question in which direction the horse manure is in fact flying !!!
Indeed I'd be happy to hear from you just what opinion as expressed there is so very off-the-wall to you.
As for my french...I'll very readily give you that I need to improve in that area....but I NEVER post in French (until I was invited on one occasion so to do) However, you being such a numpty, will have run it through a computerised translator (of the many on the web) and these NEVER give an accurate translation back (I've tried to use them many times in my early associations here)but you clearly have NO PERSONAL knowledge of french, indeed you abilities to talk SENSE are seriously questionable!)
As for how I choose to spend my time,well...that'sa matter for me really......and if you're used to a simple 9-5 existence then I suppose you WOULD struggle to see how I can allocate time to the likes of you. I can assure you that I don't converse with you for

I can assure you that I don't converse with you for PLEASURE, but I do feel a kind of missionary zeal in ferretting out wee toad-like morons sic as you who defecate all over these boards and TRY to belittle (usually fellow-Jambos) with bombastic rhetoric and bile...and if that's how you treat your friends!!!
...and while we're talking about time on these threads...you seem able to post regularly yourself mush.......are you in a wee quiet corner of your ward...or have they given you a "special" ward "Just for YOU Mr. Gorgie...In you Go...that's it...we'll be back in a few minutes to loosen the straps at the back" .........NAW...sorry Sir...if you DO wanna try ridicule your gonna have to do MUCH, MUCH better........just don't be TOO disappointed if they tell you that you winna be home for some time.
Still good news for the wife'n'kids Eh???

And their's more
If you're silenced by lip service, follow Vlad,
If you're hiring seasoned wallies, follow Vlad,
If you're happy to sack Burley,
And play a right winger that's girly,
If you're happy being shafted, follow Vlad

If you believe in fairytales, follow Vlad,
If you want your World Cup stars follow Vlad,
But don't you go getting huffy,
When the madman unveils Duffy,
You believed so you must therefore follow Vlad,

If you want your squad rotation, follow Vlad,
If you don't want explanations, follow Vlad,
If you want shafted to the max,
The first XI picked by fax,
Then all you need to do is follow follow Vlad

If you want a Pilly Biter, follow Vlad,
Want sponsorship by Mita, follow Vlad,
He bought more tears than '86
When he appointed Graham Rix,
Just accept that you must follow follow Vlad

If going bust is your ambition, follow Vlad,
2 seasons of transition, follow Vlad,
For he's an asset stripping thief,
Who appointed Malofeev,
Just accept that you must follow follow Vlad,

If you like your Union Jack then follow Vlad,
If you want to kick a hat then follow Vlad,
But you must prepare to fail,
When your tactics are down to Frail,
Keep that head down in the sand and follow Vlad,

3 in a row so I will shut my face after this one .

Factored into Vlad's figures - the £625k for webster .
Vlad gets told basically "You have lost £500k" by FIFA ........What's the betting that cost us a half decent signing on Thursday. Vlad will have seen it as by not bringing in A N Other (already rigged up)for about that price , that the books are now still balanced.
Even if he gets the benefit of the doubt for that one plus the possibility that he might do a Larrye and bring in someone from the Russian leagues ......This is giving huge leeway to a man that comes out with drivel whenever a bad result comes our way just to appease us. Yet again players were promised .....yet again - crap.....only one conclusion can be come upon - Vlad actually finds it hard to tell any truth whatsoever. Maybe a polygraph should be attached to him permanently . No statement should be allowed to come from Hearts without a "flat" printout from Vlad.

Even if he promised nothing and "kept his gubb shut" at least he wouldn't be setting up us - the fans , for a pi55 taking from other football types and media alike.

Unless it's true Vlad - SSHHH !!!!!

Busb,

Who promised us players this transfer window? I have searched high and low and actually can not find any of Vlads promises let alone ones for new players.

While your at it, going and give me some examples of his lies?

Three weeks ago - a number of papers "We need more quality rather than quantity - some will be brought in during January. My previous coaches preferred numbers of player to standards of players , this will change".
I will leave you to find the papers.....example of his lies. There is one right there - he blamed his previous coaches for the scattergun approach to signings (two years ago - 11 came in) when everyone knows he signs the players NOT his coaches.....If he was telling the truth - That would mean that Rix was allowed to sign the 11 that came in two years ago at the end of January.
No chance .
That is your post answered in full ....I am clinging on by my fingernail as for being a Vlad man(was once staunch) , but it is like a friend or even family memeber. You want to believe them , you want to trust them , to fulfill something they have promised and got you excited about. You want the person to stand up and be the person you think that thay can be. But you can only take so much BS.
If Vlad had said - "Not buying anyone because we need tha cash for the stadium" - a lot of folk would have been happy with that. He needs to learn that fans deserve to be in the loop - the reality loop.
It could still come good , but if you were a betting man - no allegiances to any other team ,you would wager that Hearts are being taken for a ride of huge proprtions - If you go by facts alone.
Being gullable and speaking from my heart rather than my head I'm still warily hopeful things will pull through , but I would love to see the first brick of the new stand in place.......Only then will I "believe".
How can we fully "believe" when it is obvious that either Vlad is still choosing team players or Frail is picking teams to appease the boss - as has always happened with varied coaches. This makes either Vlad or Frail to be a porky teller.
I know I'm a mug but I still think he could pull a rabbit out the hat.....Well it's preferable to Frail pulling a hare out his

#289 Unfortunately that is not my post answered in full.

I asked you who promised us players during the transfer window. Your reply is not a promise from Romanov it is a simple statement of what we need and to be honest we all know we need new player.

"We need more quality rather than quantity - some will be brought in during January. My previous coaches preferred numbers of player to standards of players , this will change".

Again I ask you show me where he PROMISED us players. To promise to do something is a very dangerous thing as you absolutley must carry it out.

"some will be brought in during January" We signed 3 players.

"My previous coaches preferred numbers of player to standards of players , this will change" We signed Screpis and 2 under 19,s. Again his statement is correct ie 3 players rather than the old days of 8,9 and 10.

While im here I'l give you a few more "promises" made by Vlad.

"I will appoint a world class manager" He gave us George Burley.

"I will build a team capable of competing with the OF" We finnished 2nd.

"I will build a team capable of competing in the CL" Note the word competing. He never said we would win the CL in 5 years thats a fantasy made up by the Hobbits. We played CL football that year but didn't qualify for the group stages. #290 thats your point answered.

Vlad has promised us nothing. He has however stated where he wants to take us and where we deserve to be as a club.

He did not use the actual word promise...
He made a statement that quality would be brought in - That is called giving your word ......Some folk refer to that as a Promise.
My quote/statement nailed it - you just do not seem to be able to process the matter.

I will give you this much though - your last section - The champions league quotes ARE 5hit and bother me badly.
VR said "I want to win the Champions League within 3 years , being serious I want my team to be able to play teams like Barcelona , Liverpool and Real Madrid and NOT lose by four or more goals . I want them to be able to compete."
That is roughly the translated quote that has been cut and 8astardised by the press and other idiots.

There are plenty instance of me sticking up for VR - But I also damn him when appropriate.

If the Webster case had not gone wrong I reckon a new player worth about 1/2 mil would be at Tynie right now.
