HEARTS winger Andy Driver has a chance of being fit for next week's Edinburgh derby, the Evening News can reveal.
The ankle injury which has precluded him from the last four matches is beginning to subside and he resumed light running on Tuesday at the club's Riccarton training base.

Csaba Laszlo, Hearts' manager, is hopeful that Driver will return to full training next week, and if so he will have every chance of making the journey across Edinburgh to Easter Road on Sunday week.

"Driver has begun training and I hope the reaction is nothing. Then he can play against Hibs," said Laszlo today.

"It's a question of when he can come back. It's a similar situation with David Obua, but he may take a little longer."

Driver and Obua, who has a muscle complaint, last featured for Hearts at Hamilton on August 30.

"Maybe David Obua can try training next week and he might have a small chance for Hibs but I think he will be ready for Aberdeen," said Laszlo.

Four Hearts players are absent from Riccarton this week due to international commitments – Christophe Berra, Saulius Mikoliunas, Marius Zaliukas and Audrius Ksanavicius. This has brought relief for Laszlo as he looks to cement his derby preparations.

"We only have four players away, and then Christophe is back with us after the weekend," he said.

"This works for us because we can prepare thoroughly for the next game."

Cant wait for this game. Not as I am looking forward to it but just can't wait to see what bizarre team selection occurs. Vlad/We have a history of not playing our strongest team at Fester Road.

Wait for Ksna whatis his face up front on his own with Zalikus and Wallace in midfield with Stewart and Kingston on the bench.

Hearts are still a joke!!

The Hibees are not half shouting their mouths out about the forthcoming game, do they never learn?

making a prediction on a derby is hard enough no matter the form, Hibs record under the michelen man is poor so why why would you be predicting 3-0 wins no matter how Hearts were playing??

8

Andy Driver - hibs are quaking,
Mikey Stewart - hibs are quaking,

Whats the betting, you got about 1200 tickets,
can't wait to count the empty seats at the herts end,

Hibs 2 versus hearts 0

9 well you should have plenty of experience in counting empty seats if you regulary attend the leith Nou Tramp stadium.

I for one am not making any predictions as with derbys they tend to throw up a few suprises.

Good to see ole joey barton rearend back to his old ways, Saughton for christmas!! They win a game and the whole team goes out on the town. Keep setting those standards high and you never know they may well qualify for the usual one game in europe next year!

Our midfield is far superior and with driver in it we will rip your ming mong defence to shreds!

Diamond formation ha ha, diamonds are for rings!! and what a bunch of ringpieces your team has so its perfectly suited!
15

The Gorgie Boys Are In Town,

09/10/2008 12:45:57
As long as the Hearts get back to being a solid unit then the wins will start coming again. Not sure how the derby will go as form is never an indicator and we will be more dangerous having lost the last couple. Thing is hibs are really poor apart from the strikers so easy enough to combat i mean who would you take from them (after vacination, inoculation and de loused)!!!!

worst things have happened right enough,
2-0 home win.

Have we not won at Fester Road more often than the home team?? I always mind Big Phil Stamps winner in injury time after being a goal down. Mckenna header for the equaliser and quality time to steam in the winner, ah one of many happy memories. The 0-3 pat mcginly og, levein and Robbo on the scoresheet after they so nearly went bust still a favourite and the 0-4 cameron lob over leighton, so wouldn't be surprised if the boys pull another memorable result out for us Jambos.

"Both would walk into the current hibs midfield".

Get your facts right, we let him go because he obviously wasnt even good enough good enough for our squad, never mind the team!

He's an average player who is a hothead liability when things dont go his way and also causes dressing room unrest when he doesnt get played. As you will no doubt find out!

#30 In answer to your rather repetitive and tedious questions:

1) big team - compared to you, yes. We've never said we are big compared to other teams
2) nothing to worry about with debt - anyone in debt should worry, especially now. At least our debt isn't with the bank of scotland though!
3) Vlad will prevail he is here for the long term - any signs that he isn't?
4) Build the stand "they will come" - Plans with the council although i'd be surprised if it wasn't delayed due to the current economic situation. Liverpool had to
5) world cup stars - 1 point to you - well done!
6) Champions league Fitba - Who said that - not the fans!
7) 400,000 fans - as quoted by a UK survey so correct
8) Team full of talent - We have talented players - you choose not to see that because you are a Hibby.
9) Manager picks the team - again, prove to me that he doesn't?
10) 15,000 season tickets - when and who ever said we had 15,000 s/t holders? We put a cap on it last year at 13,500 because we have to give your ugly mob 3,000 for the derby (not that you ever sell them all!). We are down on s/t holders this year but nobody said we wouldn't be.

All in all, you seem to be making up quotes to suit your needs and passing them off as quotes from Hearts fans!

Yeah Hibs are the form team right enough, winning up at sheep land even though it was offside and should never have been a penalty. Still all us Jambo's are bricking it at the thought of having to face the great big massive Hoobs team with all the flair and wonderful international class players.

Keep the confidence high lads thats just the way we like it, it always results in us making you look like the fools you are. Keep predicting the 3 nils its just the way we like.

#104 Agree, would be a short term fix, but it would bring heart and spirit back that has been missing since, well since the three spoke out.......

Would welcome both or either back personally although some might have problems with Elvis and his antics with Celtic.

It would show that Vlad is keeping his beak out and the Csaba has 100% responsibility for the playing staff. No way would Vlad have Elvis back.

usual bunch of meatheads, clangers & half-bakes representing hibernian again i see. not lumping you in with that mcaitchi.

elvis??? maybe aye, but only in the event of him having invested all his money in iceland's 10th most secure bank, the imminent repossession of his house, car and all other assets, him suddenly becoming the biggest outcast in world football, and ehhhh... the immediate onset of a temporary / permanent psychosis.

if all those things coincide between now and vlad asking him to come back, there might just be an outside chance of it happening.

My apologies for missing some of my old friends who may have thought I was ignoring them. I've just been pretty busy.
And in a few hours I jet off for a holiday with the wife and kids. So save all the witty replies for eight days or so.
By then I would expect Romanov's geese to be well and truly sauteed, and any marketable asset pertaining to HMFC to be in the safe hands of an offshore company whose ownership will remain a mystery for many a court case.
Oh, and as for all those debts . . .
Well, I'm sure there's many a bank and finance house that will try to sue the directors. Or the directors of any of the strange firms who were mentioned on the contracts.
But remind me again: Did VR ever become a director of HMFC?
Thought not.
Ever wonder why?

Cheery-byes.

128 dont think anyone is really denying that the first Vlad season Hearts did have a pretty good team. They did well in the league, went on to the CL qualifiers and won the cup. We all saw what happened though and that is no longer the case now, quite the opposite in fact, look at your team now compared to a few years ago? Do you not agree it is a joke? You spent silly money on players wages pretty much buying the success that you had. Looking at the situation now you are a ruined club with absolutely nothing to look forward to. The worrying thing is though that many jambos like yourself base all there Hearts comments on the team of 3 years ago or 10 years ago. How about getting right up to date October 2008. Take a good look at the team and recognise that you are without a shadow of a doubt a bottom 6 club. I would bet my house on Hearts finishing this season in the bottom 6.
