THREE candidates are set to contest the Labour leadership with nominations for the post closing later today.
Former health minister Andy Kerr launches his campaign this morning and will face competition from finance spokesman Iain Gray and acting leader Cathy Jamieson.

Cathcart MSP Charlie Gordon announced that he has pulled out of the contest after failing to secure the six nominations required to stand.

The vacant deputy leadership post will be contested between Bill Butler and Johann Lamont.

I saw the three relatively wealthy people giving their sound bites to camera on TV this lunchtime; superficial, hypocritical messages which could not disguise their communal sour hope: "I want more money".

the three stooges!
For th time they have been in Holyrood, since Labour were in power with the Libdems , they didnt really make there mark. So how will they be any different now?
If Labour want to be an effective opposition, then they really need to have a fresh face and most likely not anyone from the west of Scotland (nothing against those from the west, but with Labour its the same old same old!)
Watched the sound bit selection shown on the BBC (who like the rest of the media in Scotland are falling over themselves expecting something new) It was pretty grim as they promised a lot, but the promises were something that they should have fulfilled from day one of there time in Holyrood
