Golf star Torrance swings in to lend support to Homecoming's sporting bid

SAM TORRANCE was due to join First Minister Alex Salmond at Dalmahoy today to urge golfers from around the world to visit Scotland in the Year of Homecoming.
The golf star was expected to endorse Mr Salmond's invitation to fans of the sport to visit the home of golf and back his call for more golf clubs across the country to get involved in the Drive It Home campaign.

Golf is a key theme of Homecoming and Drive It Home aims to attract international golfers to Scotland with the offer of a free four-ball at one of 100 courses.

Organisers say phase one of the campaign has been a sell-out success, with thousands of golfers from around the world registering for the giveaway.

Mr Salmond announced there would be a second phase later in the year.

Were those same courses to reduce prices to "sensible" levels,they would receive a lot more repeat business!ie,two rounds of golf at some of these courses (even one round at some)is equivalent to a years subscription at some New Zealand Golf courses!!The object of the exercise is to attract tourists who can be successfully fleeced in the process.Admirable indeed.Edinburgh City Parking Wardens and their bosses must be having orgasms at the thought!Illegal fines are remembered by tourists, and word gets around. Sharpen your act Scotland or become a back water for tourism.Tourists carry away a far different picture of Scotland than they one they are trying to portray now! What goes around comes around, remember that!

Acutally I read recently that there was in increase in visitors' satisfaction with their holiday in Scotland. Scotland has much to offer and people who experience it are obviously enjoying it. So you are right, what goes around does comes around.

Not many parking fines to be experienced while travelling around Skye or Orkney are there!
