THE Naked Rambler is set to be checked out by psychiatrists after picking up his 12th straight conviction for breach of the peace.
Stephen Gough took just five steps outside the police station holding him before being re-arrested last month. The 48-year-old was completely naked when police picked him up.

Yesterday, he was found guilty of breach of the peace at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and ordered to undergo psychiatric assessment.

Sheriff Kenneth McIver said: "It may be he should be in hospital not a prison.

His solicitor has revealed Gough was assessed by mental health professionals last month who reported 'no concerns of any significance'.

another disgrace

the courts have got a right hump on with this individual and sheriffs/judges are determined he will not defy their views.

try ignoring him and he will just go away - how much has it cost to incarcerate this guy who appears to be completely harmless other than wanting to walk about in the bare doogie

Nonsense, this is person is clearly mentally ill. No normal person walks around in public naked.

I think that he should be able to wonder about naked just as much as we should be able to give him a good kick in the bollocks. Just think, if you were having a bad day and this guy walks past, WOLLOP, hoof him right in the sack and you feel a whole lot better.

Are you a pyschiatrist?

Try going to some beaches on the continent if you want to see people wandering around naked in public.

If the guy is brave enough to wander round naked in temperatures just above freezing then good luck to him. I really can't see what all the fuss is about. Just let him be.

I wouldn't want to have to see him walking around naked and I certainly wouldn't want my kids to. The guy should be locked up, one way or another.

#6: If you want to censor what your kids see, perhaps locking them up would be a better solution?

Why make your family someone else's problem?

Is this not quite simple really? This man is persistently breaking the law of the land and has shown contempt for all those who take him to task for doing so.

By wandering around naked he does subject members of the public, including children, to the site of his genitals, whether they wish to see them or not.

There are places in the UK where it is perfectly legal and acceptable to be naked, why does he not go there? Answer because he is either attention seeking or perverted. In either case I would suggest he needs help.

The harrasment of this guy is bringing Scots Law into disrepute.

He's not insane. He's an ex-marine. If you're happy to have him blown to bits to protect us, then you could make an effort to acknowledge the existence of those bits - the reality of the person.

People get so grumpy, lost in their fear and hate, we should try letting go of the anger for a second and feel that knot in the stomach relax.

I sort of expect to be angrilly slagged off for this.
Where is that anger coming from? Who is sane, and who is insane?
