SCOTLAND'S only adult education residential college has been praised by inspectors.
Newbattle Abbey College, in Midlothian, received two "very goods" and seven "goods" following a recent inspection by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIe).

The report particularly praised the college's learning and teaching, and guidance and support.

It also highlighted educational leadership, direction and management, access and inclusion, resources and services to support students.

College principal Ann Southwood said:

"These excellent results are testament to the hard work and dedication of the fantastic team of staff at the college.

"However, this is no time to rest on our laurels and we plan to use the findings of this report to build on our strengths and enhance the quality of the unique learning experiences available at Newbattle Abbey College."
