THE Scottish Government was today accused of being "heavy on spin and light on action".
Lib Dem finance spokesman Tavish Scott said since the SNP came to power in May, its cabinet secretaries had commissioned 54 reviews and 79 consultations.

But he claimed that setting up reviews was "simply not good enough".

Mr Scott hit out and
said: "The SNP Government is heavy on spin and light on action. Ministers claim to have ticked off manifesto promises, but in reality all they've done is commission yet another review or consultation.

"This slew of warm words, thinking groups and reviews are simply not good enough."

Mr Scott said health secretary Nicola Sturgeon had said it was "time to stop setting up groups to talk about progress" and instead "time to start making progress".

But he added: "The SNP has proceeded to set up fifty-four reviews and seventy-nine consultations since taking office.

"It is time for the SNP to stop spinning and take some action."

SNP minister for parliamentary business Bruce Crawford hit back, saying: "In a few short months, the SNP Government have taken action right across our policy programme, where the Lib Dems did nothing during their eight years in coalition with Labour."

'But he claimed that setting up reviews was "simply not good enough".'

Aye right. You should know Tavish after 8 years of supposedly being in power. You'd be better nipping into your kitchen and making your nearest and dearest a turkey curry instead of spouting such nonsense.

Lid Dems – aaarrrrggghhhh. They could have been contenders in Scotland but are now just throwing away any respect that was there. This is just drivel as most people would acknowledge that the SNP are not exactly hanging about in their decision making and tackling some high profile issues. Maybe he’s just making some noise to have his name in there when Stephen goes.

livilion,

livingston 28/12/2007 10:56:16
Like why would anyone but Tavish's immediate family be interested in his opinions?

I'd have thought that the Liberal leader would recognise, after 8 years in government albeit rubberstamping dictats from Whitehall, that reviews and committees are Holyrood's established modus operandi for conducting its business.

Will Tavish ever utter anything sensible?
Will Nichol ever utter anything sensible?
On past experience near on impossible!

Any respect the LIBDEMS had, has long gone thanks to the stupidity, arrogance and gross incompetence of the above buffoons.
Roll on election day.
Vote SNP

The SNP would perform better if they did not have to contend with a party who claim that
(1) a four year programme not completed on day one is a broken promise,
(2)being a minority government who have had 650 million wasted on a bus with an identity crisis in the capital, taken from other projects and
(3)an oppostion who are more interested in saving their own pathetic quisling gravy train necks than contributing to efficent government when they outnumber the biggest party, and are consequently the key to any legislation enacted.

For Lib Dem read opportunist sleep with anybody political prostitutes completely devoid of principles and prepared to crawl in the gutter .

The other two are no better.

#7. And about her wee brother Douglas deliberately mis-leading viewers and listeners to Labour's 'Put the boot into Salmond' Oban conference with the words "Let's be honest. The biggest economic decision he has ever made was how much to put on the three thirty at Kempton Park"
This of a man who in his career has been a senior financial and oil adviser to the Royal Bank of Scotland.

I am suprised that these inane comments did not come from the Lib Dem Driveller in Chief, Nicol Stephen. On the other hand maybe the Trump affair has completely exhausted him.

Although I hold no brief for the SNP Government, at least they hit the ground running. That is rather more than can be said for the current Liberal Democrat Administration in the City of Edinburgh.

Despite having been the official opposition for four years, after six months in office they haven't even learned to crawl.

I was at a parliamentary committee meeting a few years ago with Tavish Scott. They were discussing spending billions on 'Broadbanding' Scotland.

Scott said he had a video company in his constituency who need the government to broadband Scotland so that they could work with the BBC.

When someone in the room said that they had a client in New York and to service that client they had to open up a New York office and got no government subsidies but was the price of doing business Tavish got all red and shut his mouth.

Typical of the shyte that comes out of his oversized mouth with that undersized brain.
14

Dragonlord,

Perhaps if the Lib Dems and Labour accepted that the voters did not want them, and helped make Scotland great rather than sniping at the SNP, they would gain some respect.

Nicol and Wendy in hiding.
NuLabour provide Jackie Baillie then Pauline McNeill
Lib Dems provide Jamie Stone then Tavish Scott

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't there more smiling faces than petted lips among the Holyrood opposition

Who let the children run wild on this site..? Doesn’t deflect from t6he fact that Tavish has been a bit of a prat to make these comments. As for the Lib Dem party….where do you start? New Year, New Leader and all that…or just keep digging.

The Lib Dems are like the kid who hangs around the bully mimicking everything they say in the hope he doesn't turn on them. I'll leave you to make your mind up who the bully is...reminds me...what happened with Wendy and the money? Is that firmly brushed under the carpet now?

If the Lib Dems want to start being taken seriously they need to stop this b**ching and get on with some policies. Oh and get rid of Nicol, he is a bit of a numpty.

Another day, another pointless attack by the undemocratic Liberal Democrats, keep watching your poll figures go into free fall boys. What did they actually do while in power with Labour? Not a lot.

The Lib Dems falling popularity is well deserved since they gave up on the principle of federalism and embraced extreme unionism and the stifling of any choice on normal powers ie independence.

Want a choice on your country's future? Don't ever vote Lib Dem!
