Israel pulling out of Lebanon war territory

ISRAEL has withdrawn from about 90 per cent of the territory it held in south Lebanon during its 34-day war there against Hezbollah guerrillas, and hopes to be out completely by the end of the week.
Israel is satisfied with the deployment of UN and Lebanese forces in the area as outlined in the cease-fire deal, the officials added.

"We have to co-ordinate with the new and old forces of the United Nations and Lebanon," said Miri Eisin, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

the wife of Canadian peacekeeper Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedner, who was killed in Lebanon, is demanding to know why Israeli missiles struck the UN site where her husband was stationed as a military observer.

Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener said that her husband had told her the U.N. site had been fired upon for weeks, even though its vehicles and buildings were clearly marked.

UN envoy: Israel turned Gaza into prison

Special UN envoy on human rights in PA says in special report Israel's actions in territories can be described as 'ethnic cleansing,' adds three-quarters of Gaza population depend on food aid for survival

United Nations Human rights envoy to the Palestinian territories John Dugard has published a report Tuesday where he does not shy away from sharply criticizing Israel and the West for the situation in Gaza. "Israel has turned the Gaza Strip into a prison for Palestinians and have thrown away the key," he said, adding that "in other countries this process might be described as ethnic cleansing."

Israeli Cluster Bombs....

The manager of the UN's mine removal centre in south Lebanon, Chris Clark, said Israel had failed to provide useful information of its cluster bomb strikes, which could help with the clearance operation.

Last month, the UN's humanitarian chief, Jan Egeland, accused Israel of "completely immoral" use of cluster bombs in the conflict.

Israel says all its weapons and munitions, as well as their use, comply with international law.

'Threat to life'

Mr Clark said Israel fired up to 6,000 bombs, rockets and artillery a day into Lebanon during the 34-day conflict.

He said more than 40,000 cluster bomblets had been cleared since the fighting ended on 14 August, but many more remained scattered "in bushes, trees, hedges and wire fences".

Mr Clark said information Israel had provided to help with the bomblets' clearance had been "useless".

"We have asked for grid references for [cluster bomb] strikes," he said.

"We have not received them so far."

In comparison, Hezbollah has launched 100 missiles over the border.

The area of Lebanon, South of The Litanui River is approx 20 miles across, by 16 miles deep. Not very Big!

When the war started, Israelis moved in Tanks , APC's, mobile artillery, thousands of soldiers. It was reported there were 30,000 Israeli troops on the ground, (around 75 soldiers per square mile).

The Israelis will have hi-resolution satellite & aerial recon images of where bunkers would be (If there were Bunkers).

The area would have been intensively patrolled by Unmanned drones with Hi-Resolution Cameras, Manned spotter Aircraft, Helicopter Gunships, Photo reconnaissance aircraft, spy satellites. The Israelis will have special services recce teams and mossad on the ground, identifying anything that moved for artillery, gunship or airstrikes.

So How on Earth did Hezbollah Launch around 4,236 rockets from under the nose of so many Israeli Military? ?

I do not believe the Israeli Military are that incompetent, that they allowed all these rockets to be fired from under their noses.... from positions in Lebanon they were occupying ! ! !

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A lawsuit brought by victims and families of suicide bombings in Israel seeking damages from Royal Bank of Scotland Plc's NatWest claiming the unit knowingly provided services to a charity linked to Hamas can proceed, a U.S. federal judge ruled on Wednesday.

The suit, filed in federal court in Brooklyn in January, made claims on behalf of 15 families of Americans wounded in attacks. It said NatWest enabled U.K. charity Interpal to raise funds on its Web site knowing the U.S. government identified the charity as a fund raiser for Hamas, violating U.S. anti-terrorism laws.

Interpal was named a Specially-designated Global Terrorist in August 2003 by U.S. authorities, alleging it supports Hamas's activities.

RBS and Interpal, also known as the Palestinian Relief and Development Fund, have rejected the claims and in response the bank filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Israel's Population Secret

The current total population in Israel is less than 6 million people, of which some 76.5 per cent is Jewish (2003), according to the CIA, and of which only 20.8 per cent is Israel-born using the CIA's 1996 figures. The percentage of Israel-born Jews is surely much smaller today.

This would mean, that if all of the Israelis that live abroad actually lived in Israel, there would still be fewer than 1.3 million Israel-born Israelis (Sabras) in Palestine. The rest of the "Jewish" population of "Israel" are actually Russians, Americans, South Africans, Ethiopians, Moroccans, and others who have come to Palestine claiming to be Jews with some right to live there.

The largest block is Russian-speaking residents, many of whom are not Jewish in any sense of the word.

If we accept the CIA numbers that there are about 1.3 million "Israelis," i.e. Jews born in Israel - let's use this figure to do some population comparisons:

This would mean that less than 1 out of 4 Jews in Palestine were actually born there. That is to say that for every Sabra (Israel-born Jew) there are at least 3 non-Israeli Jews.

This would mean that there are more Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip than there are Israelis. There are about 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

This means there are twice as many Palestinians in the West Bank than there are Israelis. There are about 2.6 million Palestinians in the West Bank.

This means there are about 65 times the number of Egyptians as there are Israelis.

This means the Palestinian population living in Palestine is larger than the population of Los Angeles, while the Israeli population is smaller than San Antonio.

These numbers, of course, reveal the essence of the Arab-Israeli conflict. A foreign-born Jewish minority has usurped the land and the birthright of the majority Palestinian population.

Another bone of contention between Lebanon and Israel is the latter’s alleged theft of water from the Wazzani border river.

Mohammad Ghamlush, the engineer heading the Wazzani river pumping systems, indicated the Israeli army sabotaged the water pumps on the river late last month and installed a pipe to pump hundreds of cubic meters to Israel.

During the weekly cabinet meeting on September 21, the government denounced what it called an Israeli violation of Resolution 1701.
Saniora discussed the issue over the phone with Annan on September 22, according to the national news agency.

In a region where water is scarce, the issue may have dramatic consequences. and UNIFIL has opened an investigation. UNIFIL patrols went to the Wazzani River.

“We haven’t got information on the water pumps from the patrols dispatched to Wazzani, upon a request from the Lebanese government,” UNIFIL spokesman Alexander Ivanko told reporters.
However, he confirmed that Israeli workers and civilians had been repairing water pipes in the nearby village of Ghajar. He said the Israelis had violated the Blue Line, the UN-drawn borderline between the two countries to fix the water pipes. “We have informed the United Nations headquarters in New York about this”.

Ghamlush said that on September 22 an Israeli patrol broke into the pumping station installed by the Lebanese Ministry of Electricity and Hydraulic Resources in the village of Wazzani. The soldiers sabotaged the pumping machines and ordered him to leave the premises, he said.

Good tales. Too bad they do not teach laws of gravity or scientific method. Would make a safer world.

Why, you possess such silly habit of talking the same old things over and over again when you had already done so, using such examples before and even straight copying down excerpts from your previous posts?????

In doing so, you have also made me repeating similar comments in reply to your posts. So for answers, refer to my previous posts. Unlike you, I don't like repeating every now and then. You are such a very boring guy!!!

Precisely, your friend Hezbollah is equally INSANE & MONSTROUS!!!! I repeat - in plotting to start this war which is obviously well planned by your friend, Hezbollah is fully responsible for ALL THE DEATH OF CIVILIANS IN ISRAEL AND LEBANON as well as causing massive destruction.
As such, Hezbollah has also become A BUNCH OF MURDERERS AND TERRORISTS!!!

Israel was provoked and forced to retaliate in defence after being attacked by Hezbollah guerrillas on July 12, killing and kidnapping soldiers in the process. Don't expect Israel to sit idle and doing nothing about it to protect her citizens.
