THE minister of Queensferry Parish Church has died suddenly, just months before he was due to retire.
Reverend John Carrie, 64, had been minister at the church for the past 37 years.

A large attendance is expected at Mr Carrie's funeral at midday on Wednesday, which will also be broadcast live on Jubilee1 Online, the local radio service in Queensferry.

Associate Minister Rev Sean Swindells said: "It was with great sadness that we heard of the unexpected and untimely death of the Rev John Carrie.

"John was a remarkable man who possessed many fine qualities. He had a deep faith in God and a deep love for people.

"There are no words that can fully encapsulate all that he has done for the church and the wider community."
