AN AWARD-WINNING construction company has been reported to the advertising watchdog for telling potential home-owners Dunfermline to was just 15 minutes from Edinburgh.
Redrow's advert is being investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority for trying to cut the travelling time from the Fife town to the Capital.

The line was spotted in a recent brochure by an irate commuter who claimed the only way to make the journey in that time would be to make the trip "in a helicopter".

The man, who did not want to be named, said: "How can you get to the centre of Edinburgh in that time? It takes that long to get to Inverkeithing train station just a couple of miles away.

A spokesperson for the Advertising Standards Authority said: "This case is being informally investigated, but until we get through the full process we can't comment beyond that."

A spokesperson for Redrow said: "This was a genuine mistake and as soon as we were alerted all the relevant literature was removed without delay."

You dont need a helicopter, all you need is a clear road and a F1 car takes about 12 minutes.

Take Charles Linskaill's advice and drive over the rail bridge.

But their ad didn't say to the CENTRE of Edinburgh - it only said to EDINBURGH which,as we all know starts at Sth Queensferry which is actually achievable in 15 minutes (even less) from Dunfermline.

So they weren't actually lying - only being economical with the truth.

It's not that inaccurate - you can get from South Dunfermline to South Queensferry (where it says welcome to Edinburgh) in 15 minutes no bother at all. In fact, you could do it in less! I regularly travel from Barnton to Dunfermline (Centre) and it takes about 15-20 minutes on the weekend.

It'd be more accurate for them to say approx half an hour centre-centre or 25 mins by train.

Junction 3 (Halbeath/East Dunfermline) - "Welcome to Edinburgh" sign over the bridge took me 8 minutes tonight (legal speed limit). From Junction 2 (Rosyth/South Dunfermline) it would be around 5 minutes.

Made it to Corstorphine in under 15 minutes. You could probably get to around Ravelston/Comely Bank in 15 minutes.

This did involve late night driving and clear roads ;-)
