SCOTLAND football fans are being warned that the level of train services between Edinburgh and Glasgow will be reduced when the national team takes on Norway next month.
The main Edinburgh-Glasgow Queen Street service will run half-hourly rather than every 15 minutes throughout the day, and journey times will be extended by 20 minutes on October 11.

This is because Network Rail will be undertaking double-tracking and signalling works at Newbridge junction as part of the £300 million Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link Project.

Additional services will operate from Linlithgow to Glasgow Queen Street from mid-morning to lunchtime, and there will be an hourly service between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central.

The Newbridge Junction works will also mean that the line between Bathgate and Edinburgh is closed on October 11.

A replacement bus service will operate between Bathgate and Edinburgh.

First ScotRail said that it expects trains and stations will be extremely busy and customers should take into account that Edinburgh-Glasgow services will be at almost half regular capacity when planning their journeys.

Are these folk not capable of checking the diary before they decide when to do major works?

Is it half-term then? One evening isn't important compared to the mass of people moving each way every day. No reason why they can't run six-carriage trains though.

Run half hourly to Central then they are handy for the Mt Florida trains to get to the ground.
