GORDON BROWN has said he has no interest in the trappings of power and could walk away from Downing Street at any time.
The Prime Minister, who faced down an attempted leadership coup earlier this month, also indicated his "hurt" at some of the criticism levelled at him.

In a personal interview with a national newspaper, he said: "To be honest, you could walk away from all of this tomorrow.

"I'm not interested in what accompanies being in power. It wouldn't worry me if I never returned to any of those places – Downing Street, Chequers.

"And it would probably be good for my children."

He hinted that he might be drawn towards teaching, a "great profession", as a post-Downing Street career and insisted he had never been keen on political machinations.

He said that it had been a "revelation" to him at university that politics was "less about ideals and more about manoeuvres".

I would advise him to "feel free". But don't go into teaching as that demands some competence and the ability to offer information in an unbiased way.

His view of politics seems to have been jaundiced and naive from day 1. His own manoeuvres being of the darker kind indicate how far away he has stepped from "ideals".

He should go back to what he did at Uni, the printing pamphlets for students on how to screw as much as possible out of the social services.

Hey!! Wait a minute!! Did he also write one for Labour MP's on how to screw as much out expenses a possible??

No, that's the problem, he couldn't walk away at any time. He's spent his entire life aiming to be PM. Now that he has it he will have to be dragged screaming and kicking from post, or simply beaten in an election, the more likely scenario.

Tragically I think he would have made a very good PM had he Governed around the time Blair did, when the UK was on the up.

Right man, wrong time.

Britain was only "on the up" in people's imagination. It was all a bubble that the tax payer is now paying for. The tax payer is paying for those that made a fortune and got out before it burst.

In reality Britain has been "on the down" since the 60's. Manufacturing, tool making, building. I'm old enough to remember when "Made in Britain" was a stamp of quality throughout the world. It's all gone in the pursuit of easy money.

That's what Maggie Thatcher and Teflon Tony and Maggie Brown and all the rest have done. Driven manufacturing to the wall and promoted the City of London to being Britain's bread-basket.

Right time, wrong man. It always the right time for the right man.

The delusions continue to worsen. As if anyone who has dined at the Platinum Trough would end up teaching for a living.
This reptile will be on the After Dinner speech tour
the second he is dragged kicking and screaming from No 10.

What an awful liar he is.

#4 AAH yes, the student Brown. "Take the system for everything you can get" he once advocated in a interview back then. Some things never change.

Great - Go now Brown and take all the other MPS with you.

The sooner we have a General Election, the sooner we can start putting the UK back to rights again.

His statement is meant to make us all think what a gallant act of self sacrifice it is for him to continue as PM.

Who is he trying to kid - the man is a power-hungry control freak who would rather drag the country down to destruction than give up the job.

NO!!!

Please stay Gordon, you are our only hope. Stay at least until you fix the economy because you just cannot hand it over to any of the other political parties.
