THE teenage killer of Dalkeith schoolgirl Jodi Jones was attacked by another inmate with a chair, it was claimed today.
Luke Mitchell, 18, was hit by a metal seat during a confrontation with Daniel Burns, 23, at Polmont Young Offenders' Institute in Stiringshire. Burns today claimed he was hailed a hero by fellow inmates after the attack, which took place minutes after Mitchell's mother Corinne had visited him.

Mitchell was convicted in January 2005 of killing his 14-year-old girlfriend. Jodi's throat was slashed and her body was mutilated on a secluded woodland path in Dalkeith in June 2003.

Lawyers working for Mitchell have started preparing the teenager's appeal against his conviction.
