HOGMANAY revellers should wrap up warm and prepare for sub-zero temperatures.
Night-time temperatures will stay below zero across most of the country over the coming days and in Edinburgh temperatures of –1C are predicted for December 31.

And next year the cold spell will continue with temperatures likely to plummet to -8C in some areas.

Nikki Berry, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, said: "Tomorrow night, some places could be in for -6C or even less where there are frost hollows with clear skies.

"New Year's Eve doesn't look quite as cold but it's still going to be sub-zero pretty much everywhere during the night."

Best time for a freeze, when we can't fit all our beer in the fridge.
