HIBS boss John Hughes has admitted he won't hesitate to use the loan system to bring new faces to Easter Road.
Although adamant his existing squad will be given every chance to impress, Hughes has also conceded there will be "comings and goings" as he gets down to work when the players return for pre-season training next week.

But he is aware that, like mo
st other managers, he'll be expected to operate on a tight budget, a challenge he's relishing having disclosed that in six years as boss of Falkirk he spent barely £120,000 in transfer fees. All throughout Hughes' time in charge of the Bairns, however, he became renowned for bringing in players on loan, the most successful, arguably being striker Anthony Stokes from Arsenal and Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, son of United legend Peter, also spent a season with the Bairns while, more recently, Sunderland midfielder Arnau Reira has starred for Falkirk.

Now Yogi is prepared to go down the same road with Hibs if it means getting in the players he believes can strengthen competition for places at Easter Road. As a manager, Hughes has built up a vast array of contacts thanks to his repeated spying trips to England and, again, he's ready to hammer up and down the motorways in search of new talent.

He said: "I eat, drink and sleep football – it will mean nothing to me to finish training and drive down to England to take in a reserve game and see what might be available for Hibs sometime in the future. There's nothing better than Brian Rice and I jumping into the car and going south to take in games and see what is what.

"There are players out there but you need to get out there and look for them, and that is where a good support staff and scouting network comes into play.

"I guess I have a bit of a brass neck as well. I'm certainly not scared to make phone calls and take players on loan if I think it is the right thing to do. I've never been a cheque book manager, I love working the market and the loan system as I did for a number of years at Falkirk where we had a lot of success in bringing in the likes of Stokes, Schmeichel, Krul and so on.

"But, first and foremost, everyone starts afresh and there's already a lot here to work with."

Meanwhile, Hibs have added a trip to face Raith Rovers at Stark's Park on Tuesday, 21 July, to their list of pre-season friendlies.

Freed Hibs striker Damon Gray has joined First Division Partick Thistle for pre-season training in the hope of winning a contract.

Loan signings are good business for any club.

They have been instrumental in Yogi winning relagation battles over the last 6 years. A good sign for the Hibs.

I have never been a great fan of the 'Loan System', there is more than enough talented youngsters at Hibs ready to make the break through into the first team, so why should we give other teams players the chance to gain experience and progress. If John Hughes is as deep a thinker of the game as they say, he should consider 'Loan Deals' carefully.

#34 dont talk rubbish "Hibs copying Hearts" you talk a right load of tosh. Why in any way would Hibs taking a player or 2 on loan be copying Hearts. The only reason Hearts got stick was the amount of dross loan signings they made over a short period of time. I am pretty confident Hughes wont be going to Lithuania and signing 47 loanees.

Yes Hibs have made loan signings previously, just the last 2 managers chose to bizarrely to barely play them, whereas your loan signings pretty much were dire probably apart from Velicka.

Hughes used the loan market very well at Falkirk to sign the likes of Stokes, Schmichael, Krul and Riera - all decent players that made a difference to their side. If he can go out and pick up a good player on loan then Im happy with that.

Just as a matter of interest how about providing us with a list of all the loan signings Hearts have made since Vlad took over so we can have a laugh at them.

It makes me laugh, honestly a loud burst of laughter is expelled from my diaphragm, when I see Yams trying to defend their club. Face the facts, Hearts have had it. The Tynecastle situation is diar with the astronomical debt, the crazy Lithuanian and his pocket-sized eejit of a son in charge, players not getting paid, a pink stadium (seriously, what is going on there?), the droves of Eastern European immigrants flooding HW Polytechnic(the rationlale seems to be to bring in 30 random gadgies each season and hope for the best)...

Meanwhile things are going swimmingly at Easter Road with a pool of SCOTTISH talent youth and first team players, debt free, a sensible SCOTTISH Chairman whom I'm glad is stingy as unlike our neighbours we don't have to face the daily embarrassment of 31,000,000 GBP debt, our own owned world class training facilities (not some time share agreement with HW Polytechnic).

Face it YAMbos, Hearts are on a slippery slope to sequestration and Hibs will Survive. Your 90 minutes of European football is not going to make a blind bit of difference. I wish I could say hahaha in Lithuanian.

Something only you hobos can dream about, re-investing money earned on the park.

b) Lack of education
c) Early onset dementia

Personally, if a poll is opened, I would plump for c)'Dementia'.

Even after a few tins its difficult to iagine how you could calculate Hearts making £10 million from the Europa League. Take 5 minutes to scribble down:

1) Estimated home games x gate receipts
2) Add possible TV income (unlikely in the early stages)
3) Add corporate etc from home games
4) Deduct travel and hotel costs to away matches

Tell us how far Hearts will go in the competition and how many matches at home.

£10 million will never be realised.

Hearts can hardly reach a turnover of £10 million from 20 plus home games a season. So £10 million extra from a couple of games in Europe is ridiculous, never mind the costs to be deducted. Any small resemblance of credibility that Rolland may have had is gone.

1. There was a change of manager because I believe Mixu realised that he could not take the Club forward, we did have a very mediocre season. We have a new manager now, so like I was saying 'Things are going swimmingly down at Easter Road' with a promising season ahead, virtually debt free, and not an embarrassment to football.

2. Sure it's great to have international players and other staff at a club but Hearts are swamped at every level with an Olympic sized pool of random Eastern European players, random managers, random head coaches, a dodgy Chairman and his son Tin Tin, sponsored by some shambolic random 'bank'...It just seems Hearts are being overrun by these numpties. Everything in moderation is the key.

3. 'Alright' being the operative word here. Hearts snuck their way into 3rd this season, they rode their luck with a very unimpressive, dull squad. Hearts benefitted from the fact that the rest of the league were very poor. Even Hibs under Mixu managed to play Hearts off the park in every league match. Their luck will surely run out this season. Europe will prove this, order will be restored.

4. My mistake, I was getting confused with what I normally perceive to be European football. A derby match. Or should I say 'Eastern European' football. That normally lasts 90 minutes. We are treated to all the classics such as diving, wimpy players and other general unsporting behaviour that you would expect from Europe.

5. Maybe so but that's why we are not riddled with ridiculous, quite frankly irresponsible debt. Furthermore, we provide a great service to the national team, far greater than Farts.

Ro-Ro-Romanov bought a club called Hearts, he sold the land, he sold the stands and turned it into Flats.
