EDINBURGH commuters could be cheering for their biggest rivals when the hosts of the 2014 Commonwealth Games are announced over the tannoy at Waverley Station.
Station bosses will be showing the result on customer information screens as soon as it is announced at 12.45pm on Friday.
Edinburgh Airport will also be using their tannoy system and screens to ensure travellers do not miss out on the result. FirstBus will be showing the result on screens at bus stops.
Only Scotland and Nigeria remain in the race to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014. All 71 members of the Commonwealth will gather in Sri Lanka at the General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation to cast their vote this week.
Dozens of transport providers throughout Scotland have joined forces to publicise the result.
Mary Dickson, managing director of First ScotRail, said: "Having supported the bid with such enthusiasm, it is only right and proper that our customers receive the news at the earliest opportunity."
In Glasgow, passengers travelling by taxi at the time of the decision will hear first-hand from their driver.
