THE planned merger of football pools businesses Littlewoods and Vernons has been given the green light by the Competition Commission.
Littlewoods owner Sportech started talks with Vernons owner Ladbrokes in March.

Sportech argued that pools products were already up against strong competition because of growth in other areas of betting and the watchdog agreed a merger would not significantly lessen competition.
