Mike Tyrell, 28, an IT consultant from Leith, picks his favourite Edinburgh smells.
The Caledonian Brewery I used to do tours in a distillery up north and I love the smell of the fermenting alcohol.

Princes Street Gardens It's best in the spring when the grass is fresh and there's dew on the leaves.

Gunpowder I love that smell that hangs in the air after a fireworks display. You know something good's going on when you smell it.

The Mermaid chip shop, Leith Walk Especially at kicking out time on Saturday nights. It just lures you in!

Lothian Buses More by contrast. If you've ever been on a Glasgow bus you'll know what I mean.
