COMMUTERS at Waverley Station are to be asked to imagine a world without sound.
The Royal National Institute for Deaf people Scotland (RNID) will be approaching passengers tomorrow to mark the end of Deaf Awareness Week.
The charity, which represents 758,000 deaf and hard of hearing people in Scotland, is asking city residents which sounds they would miss the most if they lost their hearing and to upload images to go with those sounds to
www.worldwithoutsound.org as part of a UK-wide photographic competition.
Delia Henry, director of RNID Scotland, said: “We’re asking people using Waverley Station to take a moment to imagine a world without sound, to think about how they would feel if they lost their hearing and were not able to hear the sounds around station they take for granted such as trains arriving, platform announcements and passengers chatting or laughing.”
