A TEENAGER was held captive and tortured by two men in an attempt to get his brother to pay a £1000 debt, a court has heard.
The ordeal lasted almost ten hours, during which time 19-year-old Steven Gallacher was detained in a house in West Pilton Terrace by Darren Docherty, 25, and Russell Scammell, 22.

They used a staple gun to puncture his head and body, sprayed his face with a noxious liquid and threw him into a cold bath.

Sheriff Nigel Morrison, QC, was told at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday that the abduction and assault on the teenager was to get his brother, Peter, to pay £1000 he owed to Scammell.

Docherty and Scammell, both prisoners in Saughton, pleaded guilty to abducting and assaulting Steven Gallacher on September 11 and 12 last year and to attempting to extort £1000 from Peter Gallacher and their father, Stuart. Sentence was deferred for reports.
