FINAL details have been released about the Leith Festival pageant, which goes ahead this weekend.
The parade, which is seen by many to be the highlight of the festival, will begin at 12.30pm on Saturday and wind its way through the streets of Leith before culminating on Leith Links, signalling the beginning of the gala event itself.
The parade will be escorted by a police horseback guard while a mock Lord Provost will lead the event chauffeured in a large blue Bentley car.
An open top bus donated by Lothian buses will also be involved, as well the Leith Community Concert Band, the Leith Sea Cadets, The Sunshine on Leith Pipe and Salsa band and the local Boys' Brigade.
Leith councillor Gordon Munro said the pageant was an opportunity not only for locals to appreciate their area but also for other city residents.
"This is always the highlight of the Leith Festival," he said. "Come and see Leith at its best on the parade and on the Links."
The route will be slightly different from the traditional one, due to the tram works.
