A TOP archery team has been bag-packing at their local supermarket to raise money to take them to the World Field Archery Championships next month.
Gilmerton's Drumfield Archers, who took six gold and two silver medals at the European Championships in 2005, are desperately short of £10,000 they need to take them to Namibia on April 2.

They currently have less than half the amount needed with less than three weeks to go, meaning club members may have to fork out for the remaining money to be in with a chance of competing.

Archer William Marr asked: "How often do you see championship-winning athletes packing bags in supermarkets to follow their dreams?

"Most other sports have big sponsors but we're having to do it all on our on our own. We have one junior member who is 12, but the rest of the guys are in their 30s and mid-40s."

The team have already been packing bags at Asda and will be out in force again at Morrisons on Gilmerton Road this weekend.
