AN Edinburgh University professor has been given a top political award for his research into devolution and constitutional change in Scotland and the UK.
Charlie Jeffery has been given the Political Studies Association Communication Award for running the Economic and Social Research Council's large budget, high-profile project.
Set up in 2000, it examines the impact of the creation of the Holyrood Parliament and the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff, as well as attempts to recreate the Stormont Assembly in Ulster and moves to reform local government.
The aim was to develop insights about the impact of devolution and its future policy.
Mr Jeffery was in charge of the project's £4.7 million budget as well as it 35 individual projects and final report in March.
A report on his work says the study's success would have been impossible "without [his] strategic vision, academic insight and organisational efficiency".
Mr Jeffery, 42, works at the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Studies.
