A PERVERT who offered to let paedophile friends abuse a baby boy he was looking after must wait to hear his fate, a judge agreed today.
James Rennie, 38, had been chief executive of LGBT Youth Scotland – an advice centre for sexually troubled teenagers – until his sordid double life was revealed.

After a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh convicted him and paint firm engineer Nei
l Strachan, 41, of leading roles in Scotland's worst paedophile rings, they were threatened with life sentences by judge Lord Bannatyne.

Such sentences – known as Orders for Lifelong Restriction – require thorough and far-reaching background reports before a judge can impose them.

But the psychologist tasked with reporting on the risk Rennie poses to the public has asked for more time to complete the work, the court heard.

Rennie, formerly of Marionville Road, and Strachan, formerly of Duff Street, both Edinburgh, were due back in court on 29 July.

Rennie is now due to be sentenced on 25 September and today's decision makes it unlikely that Strachan will be sentenced before then. Both men are remanded in custody.

Six other men have already been jailed for a total of 43 years.
The two month trial which ended in May this year heard how a computer hard drive linked to Strachan was sent for repair and found to contain indecent pictures of young boys.

Strachan had also sent a photo of himself having sex with an 18-month-old boy to Rennie, computer experts discovered.

A major investigation was launched and the other men were traced through e-mails and internet chat-logs.

The 18-month investigation also revealed that Rennie also sent out sick e-mails offering access to a little boy he had been baby-sitting since the tot was only three months old, and regularly abused the youngster himself.
