A TEENAGER was smashed over the head with a bottle after an argument at a petrol station.
The 18-year-old had just bought cigarettes from the BP garage on Blackburn Road in Bathgate when another man aged around 24-years-old started arguing with him.

A short-time later the two clashed again near the local Tesco supermarket, and the teen was hit over the head before his attacker ran off.

The victim got help from staff at the superstore before being taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston with what was described by police as a "serious" injury.

Officers investigating the incident said the culprit was white, about 24 years old, had brown hair, a skinny build was wearing a white T-shirt with black writing and blue jeans.

Witnesses were asked to contact Bathgate police station 01506 652 323.
