LEITH VICTORIA have offered their heavyweight boxing star Steve Simmons a chance for one last victory as an amateur, writes BRIAN DONALD.
Simmons crashed out of the European Amateur championships in Liverpool this week at the quarter-final stage and is now pondering two offers to turn pro.

But Leith Vics club boss Dougie Fraser said: "As usual we will be staging our annual Christmas boxing show in the Edinburgh Masonic club at Shrubhill on Sunday, December 7 and we have offered Steve the chance to bow out of the amateurs by topping the bill. Steve has been a great servant to Leith Victoria so we think it appropriate that he has his last amateur bout topping the bill on our show.

Simmons said: "I'm still a bit down about losing my European bout but Dougie Fraser's idea interests me, although, at this stage, I haven't yet decided just who I will sign with to launch my pro career."
