SCOTLAND’S Alain Baxter finished a creditable 19th in the first World Cup event of the year in Flachau, Austria.
Baxter, who won slalom skiing bronze in the Winter Olympics before he was stripped of his medal following a failed drugs test, recorded an overall time of one minute 44.38 seconds from his two runs.

That was just over two seconds slower than winner Kalle Palander of Finland.

Meanwhile, at Megeve in France, Hove’s Chimene Alcott finished 17th in the women’s super-g.

Alcott’s time of 1:27secs left her two seconds adrift of Austrian winner Alexandra Meissnitzer.
