Experts gather to work on animal illness
MORE than 600 scientists are joining forces to help streamline research into animal diseases, it was announced today.
The Easter Bush Research Consortium (EBRC) involves researchers from The Roslin Institute, Edinburgh University, the Scottish Agricultural College and the Moredun Research Institute.
A two-day conference starting in the Capital today will mark the EBRC's launch.
Delegates will address issues such as the spread of diseases and how to meet the increasing demand for livestock while minimising its environmental impact.
Professor David Hume, director of The Roslin Institute, said the set-up would create one of the largest concentrations of experts in animal life sciences in the world.
The EBRC will be based around the university's Easter Bush campus and the Pentlands Science Park.
