IN the beauty industry, some names are uttered with particular reverence, and none more so than that of Japanese beauty guru Shu Uemura.
For those in the know, his trademark vibrant make-up products, best-selling eyelash curlers and iconic false eyelashes worn by almost every female A-lister have helped elevate Mr Uemura to legendary status. Now his range is available in the Capital,
courtesy of a Shu Uemura boutique.
Housed within Harvey Nichols, the full cosmetics range boasts an impressive array of make-up products, skin care items, fragrances, professional brushes and those famed eyelash curlers.
So what is it about this beauty guru which makes him so renowned? Well, having dedicated his life to studying how to improve the skin both inside and out, Shu Uemura is most unrivalled.
His first Atelier brought about a mini-beauty revolution, with vast assortments of rainbow make-up colours on display, encouraging customers to feel free to touch and experiment.
Before then, beauty buying was not hands-on and interactive, so, with so much involvement between make-up artists and beauty-lovers, the Atelier saw the creation of many new looks, techniques and cosmetic innovations.
The focal point of the new boutique – the only one in Scotland – is the Central Colour Bar, which showcases the full palette of all the Shu Uemura colours.
The eye shadow range is one of the most extensive in the city, offering finely-milled pressed powders in pearl, matte, metallic and iridescent shades to provide an effortlessly smooth eye make-up look ranging from sheer to intense. If you fancy a flutter, head for the Tokyo Lash Bar. It offers professional lash styling services, including the application of more than 30 styles of false eyelashes, varying from the simple, natural look to wild feathered styles.
