Smith hauls in points

DEREK SMITH (City of Edinburgh) moved into pole position in the Meadowbank Track Cycling League with a tidy points haul at a chilly London Road Velodrome last night.
Smith scored heavily with intermediate sprints in the final event of the night over 35 laps to take over at the top of the table from his club-mate Bruce Croall, who had earlier won the 15 laps points race in impressive fashion.

Among the youth riders, Callum Skinner (Edinburgh Racers) did not look out of place in the men's events and he posted a fine win in the 500 metres handicap, just holding off defending women's champion Daisy Sherwood (City of Edinburgh).
