Cocaine woe for Boonen
FORMER world cycling champion Tom Boonen has apologised to his fans and says he will accept responsibility for his actions in a cocaine investigation.
Belgian prosecutors have opened an investigation into suspected cocaine possession by Boonen. Last month, a doping test found traces of cocaine in his urine sample.
The Quick Step team rider made a brief statement to reporters, saying he was "not perfect and will accept the consequences" of any criminal case that might result.
Quick Step manager Patrick Lefevere says his team will continue to back Boonen.
