Hearts rubbed salt into Dundee's wounds following the 6-2 win in the Championship opener at Tynecastle Park.

The visitors were swept aside by Robbie Neilson’s rampant side.

With the fallout from the summer’s SPFL resolution vote still simmering, Hearts supporters wanted the team to lay down a marker against Dundee whose decision to change their vote ultimately saw the Jam Tarts demoted.

Goals from Liam Boyce, Michael Smith, Josh Ginnelly, Andy Halliday and a Stephen Kingsley double saw the title favourites dispatch the team who are seen as the club’s closest challengers.

Afterwards, Hearts official Twitter account scored a fine goal of their own with a post following a popular trend on the social media platform.

Putting two photos back-to-back with captions 'How it started' and ‘How it’s going’, they posted a screenshot of the headline: “Dundee set for SPFL vote u-turn which will likely consign Hearts to relegation with reports of being offered ‘lucrative friendlies.” It was accompanied by a picture of the league table.

The league table, of course, has Hearts top and Dundee bottom.
