The council manager who leads a team of street cleansing workers has pleaded not guilty .

An Edinburgh Council boss is set to stand trial accused of assaulting a man at a DJ event.

City task force manager Robert Farquhar is alleged to have assaulted Cameron Hunter while he attended the Hot Dub Time Machine party at the Royal Highland Centre in August last year.

Mr Farquhar, 41, who is understood to earn at least £40,000 a year managing a team of street cleaners and ground maintenance workers, has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in February.

An Edinburgh City Council spokesperson said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on personnel matters.”
